The new law signed by Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow in late November 2025 took effect on January 1, officially permitting cryptocurrency mining and operation of crypto exchanges. The law stipulates that crypto mining (including mining pools) is legal locally, and non-residents of Turkmenistan can participate after registering; crypto exchanges established in Turkmenistan must obtain a license and comply with KYC/AML requirements and cold storage standards. Additionally, the new law clarifies that crypto assets are not considered legal tender, currency forms, or securities in Turkmenistan. (Cointelegraph)
