Senate leaders have locked in a January 2026 markup for the CLARITY Act, signaling real momentum on long-awaited U.S. crypto market structure rules that could redefine SEC and CFTC authority and unlock institutional adoption.

January Markup Set for Landmark Crypto Market Structure Bill
White House AI and Crypto Czar David Sacks shared on social media platform X last week that Senate leaders confirmed a January 2026 markup for the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act. His statement followed a call with Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott and Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman, signaling movement on crypto market structure legislation.

Sacks stated:

We had a great call today with Chairmen Senator Tim Scott and John Boozman who confirmed that a markup for Clarity is coming in January.

“Thanks to their leadership, as well as Rep. French Hill and Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson in the House, we are closer than ever to passing the landmark crypto market structure legislation that President Trump has called for. We look forward to finishing the job in January!” the White House Crypto Czar noted.
