Swedish fintech company Klarna will launch its stablecoin 'KlarnaUSD' in 2026.
Klarna USD is pegged to the US dollar. It is the first virtual asset launched by Klarna through the Tempo blockchain. Tempo is a blockchain developed by Stripe and Paradigm for payment innovation, focusing on real-time settlement and low transaction fees.
Klarna USD is currently under testing and aims for commercialization in 2026.
Before Klarna, online payment giants PayPal and Stripe also entered the stablecoin market. PayPal launched a dollar-pegged stablecoin in 2023, and Stripe also acquired Bridge Ventures for $1.1 billion in 2024 to establish its own stablecoin platform.
