A former scammer "restarts his life" in Dubai, but disappears from a border villa: a kidnapping bloodbath triggered by a Crypto Asset.
[Chain News] A seemingly ordinary business meeting ultimately evolved into a shocking bloodbath in the encryption circle.
Russian entrepreneur Roman Novak and his wife Anna have vanished in the UAE. In early October, the couple drove to Hatta—a remote area near the Oman border—to meet a “very sincere investor.” Then, they changed cars. After that, there was no further information.
Relatives couldn't reach them for several days and raised the alarm. After the investigation by the police in Russia and the UAE, it was discovered that the so-called investment meeting was a trap. The couple was lured to a rented villa, where negotiations turned into a kidnapping, and the kidnappers had a clear target – the encryption in Roman Novak's wallet.
Roman Novak is not a clean person. In 2020, he was sentenced to six years for defrauding investors of millions of dollars. After getting out of prison, he ran to Dubai to resume his old business, creating an encryption app called Fintopio, reportedly siphoning off hundreds of millions from new investors. This time, the kidnappers are targeting these questionable funds.
But the kidnappers did not succeed. The negotiation broke down, and Roman Novak and his wife were both killed.
Money wasn't received, but life remains. The dark side of the encryption world has always been full of such scripts.
