Sam Altman got married, but why is no one talking about it?
Recently, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has become a hot topic, not because of any AI breakthroughs, but because he married Australian software engineer Oliver Mulherin on a tropical beach. The two kept it low-key, and the wedding was private, attended only by friends and family.
Altman is 38 years old this year and both he and Mulherin live in San Francisco. Mulherin graduated from the University of Melbourne with a degree in Computer Science and previously worked at Meta. Their relationship has not been public until wedding photos were leaked online.
Interestingly, Altman also clarified to NBC News that these photos are not AI-generated, but real. It seems even he has to watch out for jokes about “AI-generated wedding photos” haha.
Looking back, in November last year, Altman also went through a wave of internal strife, being ousted for 4 days and then quickly returning. This guy's career has indeed been tumultuous.
The current question is: Will changes in personal life affect his decisions regarding OpenAI? Should the big shots in the tech circle really lay bare their private lives? These are all quite worth pondering.
