How to use Twitter to follow information and explore potential investment opportunities

Twitter has become a globally popular social media platform. In the field of cryptocurrency, Twitter is the fastest and most comprehensive channel for updates on the development of projects. However, like other social networks, the overwhelming amount of information can make it difficult for users.

So how can you effectively leverage Twitter for investment purposes? This article will guide you on how to optimize your Twitter tracking.

With thousands of cryptocurrency projects in the market, each project has various communication channels. During the period from 2016 to 2018, many people chose Bitcointalk to evaluate and update information about ICO projects.

Most investors often refer to the project's forum, providing feedback based on community discussions and assessing the quality of the content.

However, by 2020-2021, many projects shifted their focus to large platforms such as Twitter or Discord instead of Bitcointalk. In addition, Medium became the leading information channel, continuously updating the latest news. Many KOLs use these channels to share their views on the market and ongoing projects visually.

In my personal experience, most information on the media or Medium is quickly updated on Twitter. Therefore, this is the preferred source for market analysis and evaluation.

When participating in Twitter, information can be categorized as follows:

  • Official Twitter of the project: Including coin projects, tokens, or exchanges such as Cosmos, Osmosis, Near, Aurora or Polygon.

  • Twitter of the investment fund: Venture capital funds often invest in cryptocurrency projects. Opinions from the fund and KOL can influence the project or the coin price in the market.

  • Unofficial community: Created to communicate and support the project from members, such as Chainlink, The Link Marine, Band, Elrond Warriors, Polka Warriors, and Solanians.

  • Analysis channel, information aggregation: Provides aggregated news and insights about the market, such as Channel CoinCu Insight and Gameverse.

How to Effectively Track a Twitter Account

  • Identify and monitor the Twitter accounts of the projects you are interested in.

  • Turn on notifications for all tweets to proactively keep up with information and participate in discussions.

When I open Twitter, I often check the news channels about Near or Polygon - two ecosystems I am interested in. I follow and turn on notifications for all tweets from these projects to not miss the latest information.

Follow KOL account

  • Pay attention to their tweet storms. After following, you should carefully read all tweets about the project and the KOL you are interested in.

  • Understand the content of the tweet to grasp the project's information and the KOL's vision. From there, predictions for the future can be made.

I often follow channels like Elon Musk and Edgy - DeFi Edge. These are influential KOLs, and the information they provide often impacts the market.

Use hashtags to search for ($MATIC, $ATOM, $NEAR,…)

This is an effective tool for understanding the community's opinions about a specific project.

For example, when searching for the NEAR Token project, you can add the hashtag “$NEAR” to the Twitter search bar to display more relevant results, making research faster.

Identifying low-quality projects

Projects that focus too much on token price, predicting price increases and quick profit opportunities are often questionable. When encountering such projects, you need to ask yourself why they are doing this. A good project takes time to develop, so why are they constantly calling on the community to pay attention to the price?

In my opinion, a quality project needs to have a long-term vision, not adversely affecting the community and providing long-term benefits.

Searching for potential projects

Typically, new projects will be approached by KOLs, Alphas, or fund founders before reaching the community. Therefore, you should monitor all their movements ( to see who they are following, what topics they are discussing, and how they are interacting with the projects ).

Investment funds often do not focus solely on one cryptocurrency but also pay attention to many related projects. This is a network where projects, tweets, and comments will interact with each other.
