According to Foresight News, Vitalik Buterin commented on the "arson incident at a judge's home," stating that he has a more radical belief that more governance actions should be anonymous/secret voting (for example, he has previously advocated for secret voting at the United Nations General Assembly) to protect decision-makers from external pressure and violent threats. He stated, "The judge's duty is to make rulings based on the facts as interpreted by their conscience, not to be accountable to violent thugs. These ideas sound crazy today, 'Why are crypto enthusiasts pushing zk-SNARKs technology solutions into the realm of social issues,' but in this era of the 2020s where physical retaliation is easily attainable (including retaliation from foreign hostile forces), I believe such ideas will enter the Overton window more."
