Taiwan Stock Exchange trading hours: Battle starting at 9 AM on weekdays

I've started to become interested in the Taiwanese stock market, but I wanted to know when I can trade. I've done some research, so let me share my perspective on the trading hours of the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

The Taiwan Stock Exchange starts at 9 AM on weekdays. Specifically, the normal trading hours are from 9 AM to 1:25 PM, Monday through Friday. The weekends are off, so you have time to rest away from the market.

What's interesting is that the exchange in Taiwan has no lunch break. Trading continues non-stop from morning until the afternoon, so there are no breaks during lunch time like in the Japanese stock market. This might be good for busy investors, but staring at charts all day can be quite exhausting.

There is a time period before trading, so you can place orders from 8:30 to 9:00, but they won't be executed. This time is called "collective auction," and prices are determined all at once at 9:00. I think it's quite efficient, but whether the orders placed during this time will be executed at the expected price is somewhat of a gamble.

Personally, I find this compact trading hours quite helpful for an amateur investor like me. I can focus on my own work in the afternoon, and I'm freed from the stress of chasing market movements. However, there are times when I feel a bit inconvenienced that I can't respond even after the market has closed during really important moments.

By the way, I often use various countries' exchanges, but I'm careful not to mention the names of specific exchanges. I think it's important to choose one that suits you because every exchange has its strengths and weaknesses.
