WHAT IS A SATOSHI

Abstract generation in progress

Satoshi (BTC) is the smallest unit of Bitcoin. That crypto that shook the financial world back in 2009. It represents only 0.00000001 BTC.

They gave him that name after Satoshi Nakamoto. Who is he? No one really knows. A digital ghost.

Main Features:

  • The minimum fraction:

A Satoshi is like the cent of Bitcoin. Tiny. It allows splitting Bitcoin into microscopic pieces for better use.

  • For small purchases:

One whole Bitcoin costs a lot. Satoshis are the solution. With them, you can buy cheap things without problems.

  • Simple Mathematics:

1 BTC has 100,000,000 Satoshis. It seems complicated, but it is quite practical for day-to-day use.

What are they for?:

  • Small payments:

Do you want to buy a coffee with Bitcoin? Satoshis make it possible. You don't have to spend a fortune.

  • Prizes and gifts:

Many times they give Satoshis as a reward. Miners, participants, collaborators... everyone receives their share.

  • Saving little by little:

Not everyone can buy a full Bitcoin. It seems that Satoshis are perfect for saving little by little.

The famous document:

The idea of Satoshi came directly from the work of its creator. That mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto wrote an important document:

- Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System, published in 2008

How the price of Bitcoin changed:

Here is what a Bitcoin cost at the end of each year. Updated until October 2025:

  • 2010: 0.30 USD
  • 2011: 4.72 USD
  • 2012: 13.51 USD
  • 2013: 751.96 USD
  • 2014: 320.00 USD
  • 2015: 430.57 USD
  • 2016: 963.74 USD
  • 2017: 13,850.40 USD
  • 2018: 3,742.70 USD
  • 2019: 7,168.10 USD
  • 2020: 28,949.72 USD
  • 2021: 46,306.45 USD
  • 2022: 16,547.50 USD
  • 2023: 42,258.00 USD
  • 2024: 89,307.98 USD
  • 2025: 92,450.30 USD ( early October )

* The Satoshi is vital for Bitcoin to function in real life. It facilitates small purchases. It makes crypto accessible to everyone, not just the wealthy.

Satoshi Nakamoto remains a mystery. His identity? It is not entirely clear. But his invention, Bitcoin, has changed finance forever. Surprising how someone so anonymous left such a big mark.
