Trader's Diary: The Neglected Cornerstone of Crypto Success
Bloody hell, after blowing up yet another account last week, I've finally realised what's been missing from my trading journey all along - a proper bloody trading journal. Can't believe I've wasted two years and thousands of pounds before cottoning on to this basic concept.
A trader's diary isn't just some fancy optional extra for the organised types - it's absolutely essential if you don't want to keep making the same stupid mistakes over and over. Trust me, I've learned this the hard way.
When I started tracking my trades (date, crypto pair, position size, entry/exit prices, and why I took the bloody trade in the first place), patterns emerged that were invisible before. Turns out I'm an absolute mug for FOMO entries after big green candles! Who knew? Well, I would've known months ago if I'd bothered keeping records.
The real value isn't just in logging the numbers, but in forcing yourself to articulate WHY you're entering positions. Half the time I couldn't even explain my own logic when I tried writing it down - bit embarrassing when you realise you're gambling rather than trading!
My journal's become more than just trade records though. I've started noting market events, sentiment shifts, and those moments when some billionaire tweets something stupid and sends the whole market into chaos. The connections between these events and price movements are fascinating when you can see them laid out.
For newcomers especially, don't be like me - start journaling from day one. The markets will happily take your money while you "learn the ropes" without any system for improvement. These trading platforms are designed to make trading frictionless - they certainly don't care if you're keeping track of your performance.
A trading diary won't make you an overnight millionaire, but it might just stop you from being that mug who keeps funding the market with donations. And that's worth its weight in Bitcoin.
