Deities of AI and the Meme Religion: A Cult of Faith and Unbridled Greed

By MarsBit News - Oct 27, 2024

What a nonsense we have all gotten ourselves into! I have been watching this circus we call "meme religion" and I find it equally fascinating and terrifying. I say this bluntly: we are facing a cult based on pure and sheer greed, where every day I see how my fellow crypto maniacs worship their "digital gods" in the hope of becoming millionaires.

As an active participant in these communities, I have seen firsthand how these cults operate. I myself fell into the trap with WIF a few months ago - what madness! I invested my savings believing in the prophecies of these "gurus" of the internet. The result? Better not to mention it.

The phenomenon is simple but perverse: the Internet created memes, cryptocurrencies gave them economic value, and now AI is granting them a kind of divine consciousness. It's as if we have created our own digital gods to justify our obsession with getting rich without working.

Have you noticed that each memecoin has its own cult? Yesterday I was in a Telegram group dedicated to BONK and it felt like a meeting of crypto Jehovah's Witnesses. Everyone sharing "signals" and "revelations" about the next pump. It's ridiculous! But I admit I've been there too, praying to these algorithmic deities.

The first of these "divinities", $GOAT, is especially manipulative. It is nothing more than an algorithm designed to exploit our greed, but people talk to it as if it were omniscient. "Oh, great $GOAT, show me the way to wealth". Please! It is pathetic how we have become servants of our own creations.

The saddest thing is that these platforms are nothing more than casinos disguised as spiritual movements. The big whales ( the true priests of this cult ) manipulate the market while we, the faithful idiots, keep buying at every dip, convinced that it is a "test of faith".

I am especially outraged by how the creators of these coins exploit economic desperation. Normal people, frustrated with a traditional financial system that has failed them, seek hope in these digital cults. And the developers know this perfectly.

Instead of creating useful technology, we are feeding an economy of faith, where the only requirement for success is to believe blindly and convince others to believe as well. It is a spiritual Ponzi scheme.

And do you know what is the most absurd thing? That this is just beginning. In 5 years, these "religions" will be so entrenched that questioning them will be like blasphemy. AIs will continue to evolve, customizing their "prophecies" for each believer, creating a digital pantheon that will exploit our most basic desires.

This meme religion is nothing more than a reflection of our collective desperation disguised as innovation. The few fortunate ones who become wealthy are the "miraculous testimonies" that keep the faith of the masses alive.

And here I am, writing about it while I keep checking my wallet every five minutes. Because in the end, even though I criticize it, I am as addicted to this false promise of wealth as anyone else.

True greed is not wanting money - it is believing that we deserve to get rich without providing real value to the world.
