Honestly, this stupid hype around NFTs annoys me. It seems like – digital pictures of monkeys that cost as much as an apartment! But damn it, I started digging deeper, and you know what? While we're mocking this, global corporations are quietly grabbing themselves a piece of this pie. And I'm freaking curious – why?
Nike: not just sneakers, but a digital hunt
Nike – these guys are not fools. In 2019, they launched "CryptoKicks" – virtual sneakers as NFTs. At first, I laughed – who needs sneakers that can't be worn? But then I learned that young people are really fighting for the right to own this digital footwear for their avatars in the metaverses. In 2023, Nike created a whole marketplace for this stuff. Funny? But they are making real money!
Coca-Cola: collect tokens, drink cola
Coca-Cola, that old good company, has also jumped into this adventure! They have tied NFTs to sports events – buy a token, get exclusive access to events. In 2024, they integrated NFTs into loyalty programs. Drink soda – get digital trinkets. And people are falling for it! I wouldn't fall for it like that... probably.
Formula 1: blockchain racing
Formula 1 is selling race moments as NFTs! Imagine – you can now "own" that moment when your favorite driver went off the track! In 2024 they announced that they plan to give NFT owners some special access to content and events. Apparently, ticket and broadcast sales aren't enough for them!
Reddit and Media: Monetization of Everything
I have been sitting on Reddit for years, but in 2023 they launched an NFT platform and now they want authors to monetize their content through tokens. And this Chinese newspaper, South China Morning Post, is actually selling historical events as NFTs! Like "buy yourself a piece of history"! And people are buying it!
South China Morning Post: history for sale
In 2021, this newspaper began turning its archives into "artifacts" on the blockchain. By 2023, they were already trading all key historical events of the region. In 2024, they launched an educational platform – like "buy an NFT and learn history". Smartly conceived – to sell what should already be publicly available!
Why do they need all this?
Critics scream that NFT is a bubble. Maybe so. But then why do serious companies with multi-billion dollar turnovers invest real money in it? Nike, Coca-Cola, Formula 1 – these guys don’t throw money to the wind just like that.
Maybe it's not about the pictures of monkeys? Maybe NFT is just a tool that changes the game? Personally, I still think this thing is overrated, but the facts make you think. While we laugh, corporations are making money. And that annoys the most!

NFT – just a soap bubble? Then why are business giants throwing millions at "monkey pictures"?
