HODL? THAT DAMN FAD OF HOLDING ONTO CRYPTOS AND HOW IT COULD SAVE YOU... OR SINK YOU
Look, I'm going to tell you what holding really means from my own experience. When I bought my first cryptos, I almost had a heart attack watching them go up and down like a roller coaster. And that's when I discovered this philosophy: buy and hold as if your life depended on it, hoping that one day they will be worth more.
Why hold on for years? Because this damn volatility drives you crazy. The market cycles are brutal. Bitcoin, that capricious king, sets the pace every four years with its blessed halving and drags all the other coins in its dance. I've seen it go from being worth nothing to being worth a fortune.
But who has that much patience? I didn't have it at first. I was obsessed with looking at charts every 5 minutes. A hell.
There are two ways to do it: the first is to put all your capital in at once ( crazy, but some do it ) or to buy out little by little. Personally, I prefer dollar-cost averaging, putting in the same amount every month regardless of the price. It’s less stressful.
You can also "buy the dips," which sounds nice in theory. But when you see your investment drop by 80% ( yes, it has happened to me ), you start to wonder if you really should put more money into this bottomless pit.
What they don't tell you is that while you hold, others are taking advantage of opportunities to trade. While you religiously cling to your coins for years, there are people multiplying their capital by following trends. Holding can be the strategy of the lazy or of the coward.
Holding makes sense if you really believe in the technology, but let's be honest: most just want to get rich quick. And that impatience is exactly what makes you sell in panic when everything crashes.
I have seen too many "holdeadores" turn into "holders" by force, trapped with their devalued coins and waiting for a miracle that never comes.
If you are going to start, learn well what you are buying and why. Don't do like I did at the beginning, buying any coin that was recommended to me in a Telegram group.
Good afternoon, and remember: in this world, no one gives you anything.
