GST Token: My "Walk to Earn" Experience and Honest Thoughts

Abstract generation in progress

Have you heard of the cryptocurrency called GST? Actually, I've recently gotten a bit hooked on it, and I'm using it with an app called STEPN. Simply put, it's a really interesting system where "you earn money by walking."

My Honest Experience Using It

Honestly, when I first started, I was half in doubt, wondering, "Can you really make money from this?" I mean, it's just too suspicious to get paid just for walking! But after buying NFT sneakers and actually moving, I found that GST was accumulating properly.

Just a point of caution, this NFT sneaker requires quite a significant initial investment. Even if someone tells you, "You can start for free!", be careful because that's a lie.

The Basics and Mechanism of GST

GST is the main coin of an app called STEPN, and its official name is "Green Satoshi Token." Its features are:

  • There is no issuance limit, so it is prone to inflation.
  • Usable on Solana and BNB Chain
  • There is practicality to be used in various places within the app.

The mechanism is simple. By wearing NFT sneakers and running or walking outside with a smartphone, you can earn GST based on the distance and speed of your movement. To earn efficiently, the key is to choose the sneaker type that suits you best:

  • Walker: For people who walk slowly
  • Jogger: For people who run lightly
  • Runner: For those who run seriously
  • Trainer: All-round type (but expensive)

Price Fluctuations and Future Outlook

To be honest, the price of GST has been extremely volatile. It exceeded 1,300 yen in April 2022, but now it's at a few yen or around that level. The drop has been due to simply riding the wave of "trends coming and going" and because there is no supply cap, it has led to inflation.

Personally, I think it's dangerous to see GST itself as an "investment." This token is primarily used within the game and is not meant for long-term holding. The market may move again, but relying on that is too much of a gamble.

Honest Impressions

Good points:

  • It really motivates me to exercise (I've never walked this much before)
  • The game elements are interesting
  • While becoming healthy, it will generate a little income

Disappointing points:

  • The initial investment is too high.
  • The time until recovery is unpredictable.
  • The price volatility risk is significant.

This system is really groundbreaking, but when it comes to the actual question of whether it can make a profit as an investment, it's a bit tricky. I think it's best to start with the mindset of walking for health and getting a little pocket money on the side.

Ultimately, the value of GST depends on how long STEPN lasts. The Move-to-Earn genre itself has the potential to grow, but viewing GST itself as an investment might be a bit too risky. I'm continuing to walk for fun, without expecting any results!

Walking happily, getting healthy, and feeling lucky if you accumulate even a little token seems just right, doesn't it?
