Encryption journalist: The White House is considering appointing Jill Sommers and Kyle Hauptman as CFTC chairs.

According to a report from Deep Tide TechFlow on September 25, crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett disclosed that the White House is considering appointing former Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) commissioner Jill Sommers and National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) chairman Kyle Hauptman to serve as chairman of the CFTC.

It is reported that both candidates are considered supporters of encryption. Sommers worked for 10 years at the consulting firm Patomak Global Partners, which was founded by former SEC commissioner Paul Atkins, with whom he has a close relationship. Hauptman is the 13th chairman of the NCUA and previously served as a senior vice president at investment bank Jefferies, overseeing U.S. Treasury and futures trading.
