LITHIUM AMERICAS STOCK INCREASED BY ABOUT 90% AFTER NEWS THAT THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION WANTS TO BUY A PART OF THE COMPANY'S SHARES.

THE U.S. IS LOOKING FOR WAYS TO INCREASE LITHIUM SUPPLY DOMESTICALLY TO REDUCE DEPENDENCE ON CHINA FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY RAW MATERIALS.

🔹 Lithium Americas owns 62% of the Thacker Pass lithium mine in Nevada, one of the largest lithium sources for electric vehicle batteries in the future. General Motors holds 38% and will purchase lithium when the mine begins production.

🔹 The company is receiving a loan of 2.2 billion USD from the US government to build a mine but has not met some of the loan conditions, so it has requested to defer part of the repayment.

🔹 The Trump administration wants to acquire a small stake in Lithium Americas in exchange for allowing a postponement of debt repayment. This will help the U.S. government benefit from profits or rising stock prices, offsetting risks if the company repays its debts late and protecting taxpayers' money.
