The EU is preparing to take more retaliatory tariff measures to pressure the United States.

The European Union is preparing to take more tariff countermeasures to exert pressure on the United States. According to a report from the Financial Times on the 24th, citing sources from Xinhua News Agency, Björn Seibert, chief of staff to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, stated that before the July 9 deadline for EU-US trade negotiations, the EU needs to coordinate its position internally and prepare for more tariff countermeasures against the United States to pose a “real threat” to the U.S. Seibert stated that von der Leyen is prepared to escalate tariff countermeasures against the United States in order to achieve a better protocol. He hopes that EU member states will support a comprehensive tariff plan for $95 billion worth of U.S. goods and stated that the EU is also preparing long wick candle measures for the service industry, including taxing U.S. technology companies and public procurement contracts for U.S. companies.
