Animoca Brands, Animoca Brands Japan, San FranTokyo, and MyAnimeList announced today that they will become the launch partners of Anime Foundation. Anime Foundation is a community-owned protocol for anime and manga culture across Web2 and Web3. This collaboration will create new opportunities and experiences for global fans, creators, studios, IP holders, as well as projects and brands originating from anime.
This strategic cooperation follows Animoca Brands Japan's 300 million yen strategic investment in MyAnimeList, a community website and database for anime and manga, with 16 million registered members.
At the same time, Anime Foundation will establish a strategic alliance with Mocaverse, a growth network with an interoperable infrastructure layer of accounts, identities, reputations, and the PointFi system established by Animoca Brands. The strategic alliance will leverage the recently announced Realm Network interoperability SDK from Mocaverse to launch Anime ID. Anime ID is a DID and reputation layer designed to facilitate more users entering the Web3 ecosystem.
Anime Foundation will serve as a bridge between the traditional anime industry and the Web3 native community, enhancing fan experience and empowering global anime culture. Anime ID will be the core of Anime Foundation, providing a new monetization model and community building plan.
The vision of Anime Foundation is to provide more creation opportunities and rewards for anime and manga creators, and to facilitate the issuance of exclusive content with easier access. Four strategic partners will leverage their unique strengths to realize this vision: MyAnimeList and Animoca Brands Japan will utilize industry and community networks to attract talent from the traditional anime industry; Animoca Brands and San FranTokyo will leverage their extensive Web3 ecosystem, blockchain technology, and infrastructure to unlock new opportunities for fan engagement.
Through collaboration with Mocaverse, Anime Foundation will launch Anime ID, enabling fans to own unique on-chain Anime IDs, explore, contribute to, and curate their anime archives and reputation, and unlock more features in the future. Leveraging the interoperable infrastructure SDK of Mocaverse's Realm Network account system, Anime ID will share the same login name with other Realm IDs (such as Moca ID) and allow community members to customize their unique digital identity domain names (e.g. david.anime).
Anime ID users will be able to access various Web3 applications, including GameFi, SocialFi, IP content supported by Moca Network. Moca Network comprises Mocaverse partners and various Web3 projects from Animoca Brands and its extensive investment portfolio. Anime ID users can also earn loyalty points, Realm Points, by participating in usage.
Management Comments
Animoca Brands co-founder Yat Siu commented, "We are excited to be the launch partner of Anime Foundation, and we envision it to be a vanguard of global anime culture. Anime Foundation has strong potential to establish itself as a universal network for on-chain identity, experiences, and economy. Unlike projects focusing on a few IPs or brands, the Foundation will drive the development of a comprehensive and inclusive anime universe, creating a powerful Web3 ecosystem with strong network effects and digital property rights."
"We are pleased to become a launch partner of Anime Foundation," said Daisuke Iwase, CEO of Animoca Brands Japan. "Through our industry network and from both the Web2 and Web3 perspectives, we support it. Animoca Brands Japan utilizes Web3 technology to provide a better fan experience for Japanese IP and content. Our collaboration with Anime Foundation aims to enrich the global anime community. We look forward to creating excellent anime content and deepening connections with fans worldwide."
MyAnimeList CEO Atsushi Mizoguchi commented, "We are pleased to be one of the launch partners of the Anime Foundation. The project has various goals, but we believe all of them will support the future of Japanese content. Through collaboration with the Anime Foundation, MyAnimeList aims to distribute more manga works globally and discover the next highly potential anime work. We believe this project will help nurture existing works and new original works. We will share more details with the community."
San FranTokyo CEO David Taing commented, "Anime Foundation surpasses the boundaries of Web3. Our vision is to cultivate a vibrant ecosystem that transcends technological boundaries and empowers global anime and manga culture. We also recognize the immense value in traditional domains - from passionate creators to publishers and distributors facilitating global issuance, to fan communities for works. Today, anime culture transcends the medium itself - our love for works, characters, stories, and collaborative brands shapes our identity."
Mocaverse CEO Kenneth Shek commented, "We are excited to collaborate with Anime Foundation to launch Anime ID as the first partner of Realm Network. I believe Anime Foundation has the opportunity to attract millions of anime fans worldwide. With the simplicity and interoperability of the Realm Network, it will greatly promote the cross-dissemination of users, culture, and utility throughout the entire Moca Network. In the near future, Anime ID users will be able to fully explore the world of games, sports, and more, while Moca ID users will have access to a wide range of anime applications and IP networks."
