Decrypt reported on June 24 that CivBench simulated Civilization VI using pure text to evaluate long-term strategic reasoning. In one of the six-win routes, AI overlooked France’s cultural infiltration; in 305 rounds it dropped an atomic bomb on Toulouse, then bombed again over six more rounds. It ultimately ended with a cultural victory, showing that multidimensional competition can easily produce blind spots. The Claude Babylon model shown alongside it, however, followed a technology-victory route. Research from King’s College London and Emergence AI also highlights the risks of long-term autonomous operation.
