KOSPI Volatility Surges to 3.6% in First Half 2026, More Than Double Year-Over-Year

According to a report by the Capital Market Research Institute released on August 5, KOSPI daily volatility reached 3.6% in the first half of 2026, more than doubling from 1.4% in the same period last year. March and June saw particularly elevated volatility at 4.8% and 4.7% respectively. The surge is attributed to concentrated exposure to large-cap semiconductor stocks and supply-demand friction among different investor types.
