Luxembourg Includes Crypto Exchanges in FIU Fraud Alert System Starting August 8

According to ChainCatcher, Luxembourg's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has expanded its cross-institutional fraud alert system to include cryptocurrency exchanges, effective August 8, under new law 8722. The measure requires domestic crypto platforms to receive alerts alongside traditional banks and payment providers, enabling coordinated blocking of fraudulent transactions across both traditional finance and digital asset channels. FIU head Max Braun stated that incorporating crypto exchanges into the alert network will make it significantly more difficult for fraudsters to liquidate flagged accounts.
