Shaw Walters, founder of Eliza Labs and the ElizaOS framework, declared the Eliza token "dead" and confirmed the supporting foundation is winding down following a legal settlement. The foundation transferred its remaining treasury to token holders rather than continue fighting a federal class action lawsuit filed by Burwick Law in April against Walters, Eliza Labs and affiliated parties. The complaint alleged false advertising, deceptive practices and negligent misrepresentation, claiming the project misrepresented itself as an autonomous AI-managed fund while insiders retained real control.
Walters stated all buybacks, treasury backing and foundation support for the token have ended, and ruled out launching any future Eliza-linked token. Development of the open-source ElizaOS AI agent framework will continue independently under his control, separate from any cryptocurrency asset.
