On August 5, MiniMax (00100), an AI-focused technology stock, surged 13.3% to HK$260.8 in afternoon trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. As of 1:23 p.m., the Hang Seng Index climbed 16 points, or 0.1%, to 25,869 points. Chip stocks also rallied, with SMIC up 5.1% and Huahong Semiconductor gaining 8.1%. Among major tech names, Alibaba rose 2.1% to HK$128.5 and Tencent gained 1.2% to HK$493.4, while Meituan declined 0.2%.
