China's crude oil imports hit 51.2 million tons in August 2025. Emma Thompson, a Commerzbank analyst, shared this nugget.

State refineries kept steady. But independent ones? They ramped up production. At least that's what SCI, a consulting firm, thinks.

The first eight months of 2025 saw China import 389.7 million tons of crude. Up 3.5% from last year. Interesting trend.

Not all that oil stays in China, though. It's kind of surprising. Oil product exports jumped 9.2% to 5.58 million tons in August. Been happening for a while now.

Seems China's got a foot in both camps. Big-time crude importer. Growing oil product exporter. Global oil markets? China's fingerprints are all over them.
