SpaceX wipes out an “Bitcoin empire” in a single day—those faiths about corporate BTC treasuries need to wake up

When the U.S. stock market closed on Monday, SpaceX plunged 16.43%, to $154.6—falling below its IPO day closing price. In just one day, its market capitalization evaporated by roughly $400 billion. Over three straight trading days, it has cumulatively dropped by more than 23%, erasing more than $900 billion from its peak market cap.

You heard right—$900 billion. USD.

The second-largest single-day market cap loss in global corporate history. Only behind a certain tech giant.

And just a few days ago, on June 16, during trading, SpaceX even touched an all-time high of $225.64. From the peak to the midpoint, it took only three trading days.

What happened?

A $6.3 billion AI compute-power deal was signed. Reflection AI will pay $150 million per month starting in July. Good news, right?

The market doesn’t buy it.

Investors are worried about something else: SpaceX is set to issue debt—$20 billion—to repay the bridge loans used to acquire xAI.

The AI business continues to run at losses. In Q1, revenue was $4.694 billion, with a net loss of $4.276 billion—almost matching last year’s full-year loss. S&P predicts that SpaceX’s free cash flow will remain negative before 2029.

An AI story that burns tens of billions every year and still doesn’t know when it will become profitable—meeting a $20 billion bond financing round—emotional bubble, and it burst.

But what really makes people in the crypto space break into a cold sweat is something else.

On June 13, the Whale Factor report disclosed: SpaceX holds 18,712 bitcoins. Its average cost is about $35,300. Based on the coin price at the time of around $63,000, the paper gain is close to double—worth about $1.18 billion.

The S-1 filing spells it out clearly: this is a “strategic reserve.”

What does that mean? Bitcoin has been officially written into the balance sheets of the world’s top private company, to be used as “digital gold” to hedge against inflation and currency fluctuations.

This should have been an epic corporate treasury narrative—“Even SpaceX is hoarding Bitcoin, so what are you hesitating about?”

So what happened?

Before the narrative even got warm, SpaceX’s own stock price crashed first.

This is where it gets interesting.

The “success story” effect of corporate Bitcoin treasuries is being reconsidered.

In the past few years, what was the logic behind corporate buying of Bitcoin?

MicroStrategy bought 847,000 BTC—its stock price rose. Tesla bought—its stock price rose. “Bitcoin is the optimal solution for corporate treasuries”—that narrative was built on the premise that “companies holding Bitcoin are rewarded by the market.”

Now SpaceX is here. It holds 18,712 BTC—the eighth-largest Bitcoin holder among publicly listed companies worldwide. It’s also one of the Bitcoin-holding members of the Mag8 group (“Seven Big U.S. stocks + SpaceX”), accounting for 25% of the group’s Bitcoin holdings.

Then, its market cap vanished—$900 billion—in three days.

How should those CFOs who are considering whether to allocate some Bitcoin as a treasury think about it?

They’ll ask themselves three questions:

SpaceX’s Bitcoin position has substantial unrealized gains, but its stock price collapsed—Bitcoin saved its balance sheet, but it didn’t save its stock price.

If even Elon Musk’s company can’t withstand the market’s re-pricing of a “burning-money” narrative, should I match that with my own limited funds?

Is the market rewarding “companies holding Bitcoin,” or rewarding “companies that can keep making money”?

The answer is brutal: the latter.

You might say: Isn’t Strategy still buying?

Yes. From June 15 to 21, Strategy again bought 520 BTC at an average price of $67,068. Strive Inc. has also just bought 759 BTC for $50 million.

But you need to see the difference clearly:

Strategy is a Bitcoin treasury company—its core business is buying Bitcoin. Its stock price moves with Bitcoin—one’s up, both are up; one’s down, both are down.

SpaceX is different. Its core businesses are rockets, Starlink, and AI. Bitcoin is only a 1.8% allocation on its balance sheet.

When the market questions its core business narrative, that 1.8% Bitcoin can’t save the remaining 98.2%.

This is the most painful truth of the corporate treasury narrative:

“Bitcoin can beautify your balance sheet, but it can’t improve your business model.”

So, will this affect other companies imitating SpaceX to build BTC treasuries?

In the short term, certainly.

Not because Bitcoin fell—BTC is still trading in a range around $64,000. Rather because the “success story” has developed cracks.

Those CFOs who were planning to write in their quarterly reports, “We followed SpaceX to allocate Bitcoin,” now have to weigh it again:

The board will ask, “If SpaceX collapsed, are you sure you want to follow?”

Shareholders will ask, “Do you want to learn from SpaceX’s Bitcoin holdings, or from SpaceX’s market cap evaporation?”

The story of corporate Bitcoin adoption has never been about whether “Bitcoin is good.” It’s about whether “the boss dares or not.”

Elon Musk dares. Michael Saylor dares. But most CEOs don’t.

When the boldest company gets hammered for $400 billion in the open market, the more cautious ones will only become even more cautious.

Finally, two closing remarks:

SpaceX’s plunge will cool the FOMO around corporate Bitcoin treasuries in the short term. Those potential “follow-the-leader” buyers will hit the pause button.

But true long-term players—Strategy, Strive, and family offices that treat Bitcoin as “digital gold”—won’t change their five-year strategy because of one company’s stock-price fluctuation.

For the corporate treasury narrative, the biggest risk has never been Bitcoin’s price volatility. It has always been that “the company holding Bitcoin is abandoned by the market.” SpaceX stepped on this landmine. #我的Gate交易时刻 #Gate直通韩股股票 #沃什首秀美联储利率不变 $BTC $ETH $SPCX

The overall trend is still bearish, at least on the chart there hasn't been a period of accelerated decline yet.
Additionally, news factors such as the US-Iran war are also continuously manipulating the market, and even a slight breeze or disturbance causes it to start falling.
This also indicates that the market still believes the overall direction has not bottomed out.
But don't blindly chase short positions either; I personally think there will be another rebound in July, and it's better to short after the rebound.

$RESOLV (1H) – Bullish Continuation Setup

Bias: Long / Bullish

Entry Zone: 0.0200 – 0.0208

Take Profit Targets:

* TP1: 0.0225
* TP2: 0.0250
* TP3: 0.0280

Stop Loss: 0.0184

Setup Rationale:
RESOLV is attempting to reclaim higher levels after establishing support around the 0.020 area, with buyers defending pullbacks and momentum beginning to build. A successful hold above the entry zone could trigger continuation toward nearby resistance levels, offering a favorable risk-to-reward structure for longs. Current market pricing around the low-$0.02 region supports this continuation thesis.

Trade Plan:

The United States is about to issue "ID cards" for the crypto industry—BTC and ETH, only one can laugh last.

Something game-changing is happening in Washington.

It's not the Federal Reserve raising interest rates, nor the approval of an ETF.

It's money, really starting to talk.

In the past two weeks, the super PAC Fairshake supported by Coinbase, Ripple, and a16z has spent over $14 million in key districts. Just in Maryland, a House seat saw $5.5 million invested. In Texas, over $5 million was spent to oust the incumbent anti-crypto representative.

The political bets on the 2026 midterm elections in the crypto industry are entering the harvest phase.

And the biggest fruit is the CLARITY Act.

1. What exactly is this bill fighting over?

In one sentence: giving each crypto asset an "ID card"—are you a commodity or a security?

In recent years, the SEC and CFTC have been fighting over territory every day. The SEC says "most tokens are securities," the CFTC says "Bitcoin is a commodity." Projects don’t know who to listen to, exchanges don’t know if they can list, institutions don’t know if they can buy.

Uncertainty is the biggest enemy of the crypto market.

What the CLARITY Act aims to do is simple: draw a line. Highly decentralized assets fall under the CFTC as "digital commodities"; highly centralized assets fall under the SEC as "digital securities."

Sounds reasonable, right?

But here’s the problem—where this line is drawn determines the flow of trillions of dollars.

2. The fate of BTC and ETH diverges at this moment

The draft bill contains a critical clause: the SEC cannot reclassify assets with existing U.S. spot ETFs before January 1, 2026.

What does that mean?

Bitcoin and Ethereum are permanently excluded from the "securities" category.

Both are "digital commodities," both fall under the CFTC, and both have received a get-out-of-jail-free card.

But the impacts are completely different.

For Bitcoin—

The CLARITY Act is just icing on the cake.

Bitcoin’s position as "digital gold" has never been questioned; ETFs have long been approved, and institutions have already been buying. The bill passing just gives those still on the sidelines a reason to finally enter.

A positive development. But limited.

For Ethereum—

This is a lifesaver, even a lifeline.

Ethereum’s situation has always been more awkward than Bitcoin’s. Proof of Stake mechanisms, staking yields, foundation operations—these have kept SEC’s eyes on it, and it could be labeled a security at any time.

If Ethereum is classified as a security, major U.S. exchanges might be forced to delist ETH, and institutional holdings could face compliance disasters.

The CLARITY Act explicitly legalizes Ethereum staking yields, placing it in the same "commodity" basket as Bitcoin.

This is a qualitative leap for ETH’s valuation.

How much room is there for valuation recovery—from "possible ban" to "legally compliant"? You can imagine.

3. So who wins?

In the short term, ETH benefits more at the margin.

Bitcoin is already in a safe zone; ETH has been pulled from the gray area into the safe zone. The same "commodity" status means ten times more to ETH than to BTC.

But in the long run—

The whole industry wins.

The CLARITY Act is not just about classification; it also ends the absurd era of "needing lawyers before writing code." Developers no longer have to worry that their open-source code will be considered a crime.

Over 1,200 tech companies and 160 national security experts have jointly supported it.

This isn’t just crypto circle hype. It’s the entire U.S. tech industry pushing forward.

The White House aims to pass it before July 4th. Galaxy Research estimates a 60%-75% chance of approval.

Although the Senate still has unresolved issues like ethics clauses and illegal finance, and although the approval probability has dipped below 75% and then rebounded above 60%—the trend is already irreversible.

4. One last thing, remember—

“When Washington starts issuing ID cards for crypto assets, the game rules in the market are no longer ‘can it survive,’ but ‘how well can it survive.’”

BTC has obtained permanent residence. ETH has gained citizenship.

The only difference is—one was already at home, the other just got permission to enter. #我的Gate交易时刻 #Gate直通韩股股票 $BTC $ETH $SOL

One side, 175 million USD long BTC, the other side, 125 million USD short ETH—same whale, playing a big game.

Today’s data gave me chills.

On-chain monitoring detected two large orders happening simultaneously:

On the BTC side, two whales combined opened a total of 2,754 BTC long positions, worth $175 million. One opened at 64,130, with a liquidation price of 59,076; the other opened at 64,508, with a liquidation price of 61,723. Currently, one is floating at a loss of 500k, the other at 750k.

On the ETH side, the address pension-usdt.eth, marked by the market as “ETH’s largest short seller,” increased its short position from 30k ETH to 50k ETH, worth about $85.28 million. Plus, another whale holds a short of 23k ETH—total short positions on ETH amount to approximately $125 million.

BTC long $175 million, ETH short $125 million.

Same day, same market, whales took completely opposite positions on two assets.

Do you think this is a disagreement between bulls and bears?

Most likely, it’s a hedge by the same entity.

Think carefully—who would bet $175 million on BTC long while betting $125 million on ETH short?

Retail investors? Impossible. Retail doesn’t have that capacity.

Two unrelated whales executing opposite trades on the same day? Very unlikely.

The most reasonable explanation: it’s an institutional or a single super-large investor hedging across assets.

The logic is simple—I’m bullish on BTC, bearish on ETH, but I don’t want to be naked short ETH and get burned. So I go long BTC to protect my position, and short ETH to directly express my view.

This isn’t a bet on BTC rising or ETH falling. It’s a bet on one thing:

The BTC/ETH ratio continuing to widen.

How high is the chance of this judgment?

Let’s look at the data.

Today, the ETH/BTC ratio has fallen to around 0.027—back to early 2023 levels. Since the start of the year, BTC has dropped about 11%, ETH about 32%.

ETH has fallen three times more than BTC.

And funds are still flowing from ETH to BTC. The ETH/BTC ratio dropping to 0.027 reflects that the “blood-sucking” pattern of Bitcoin absorption continues.

Whales are adding to their positions—long BTC, short ETH—implying:

“0.027 isn’t the bottom, it needs to go even lower.”

What’s the macro backdrop for this judgment?

The Federal Reserve has a 76% chance of raising interest rates in September. In a tightening environment, capital naturally concentrates into “harder” assets. BTC has ongoing spot ETF inflows, supply scarcity after halving, and passive allocations from players like BlackRock. What about ETH?

Nothing.

ETH’s “legitimacy” is still being questioned. Today, Ethlabs was established—a nonprofit founded by five former Ethereum Foundation researchers, supported by Joe Lubin and BitMine. Sounds like good news, right?

But think carefully—Ethereum Foundation staff are leaving, and they need to set up new teams for R&D—this itself signals problems within the EF.

In an ecosystem losing core developers, why would institutions give it a premium?

But ETH shorts aren’t risk-free arbitrage either.

The address pension-usdt.eth has already realized over $39.6 million in trading profits. After closing a BTC short position with a profit of $3.56 million on June 4, it immediately opened a short position of 50,000 ETH, three times larger.

This whale is smart, but not a god.

ETH’s current price is around 1,720. If ETH is pushed back above 1,807, the combined liquidation strength on major CEXs could reach $827 million.

$827 million in short fuel—enough to push ETH’s price sky-high.

Once the price moves back above 1,800, the 50k ETH short position could trigger $85 million in liquidations.

It looks like it’s shorting, but it’s also gambling with its life.

So, what’s the actual win rate for this trade?

I’ll be straightforward: the probability that the BTC/ETH ratio continues to widen is over 65%.

The reasoning is simple—

The macro environment doesn’t support ETH outperforming BTC.

Under rate hike expectations, institutions will embrace the “digital gold” narrative, not the “world computer” narrative. ETF inflows are going into BTC, not ETH. The supply scarcity after halving belongs to BTC, not ETH.

But ETH shorts aren’t riskless arbitrage.

1,807 is the collective graveyard for shorts. If ETH is pushed above this level by bulls, over $800 million in liquidations will instantly crush the shorts.

Whales daring to short ETH at 1,720 are betting ETH can’t reach 1,807.

“It’s not that ETH isn’t good enough, but BTC is just too strong this cycle.”

Smart money is already voting with their feet—long BTC, short ETH, betting the ratio will continue to expand.

Oil prices fell by 9%, but the Federal Reserve still wants to raise rates? The market is once again overthinking it.

Oil prices have crashed, and the market is getting excited.

WTI has fallen below $75, and Brent has fallen below $78. The cumulative drop is over 9%, and the war premium has basically been cleared.

The news flow looks all calm and peaceful: the 60-day roadmap between the US and Iran has been finalized, the US Treasury has issued a 60-day exemption permit, and Iran has received exemptions for oil exports and had its assets unfrozen.

More than 400 oil tankers are stuck outside the Strait of Hormuz waiting for passage.

Everything looks like it’s moving in a good direction.

So the market starts to fantasize: oil prices have fallen, inflation is coming down, and the Federal Reserve should loosen its stance, right?

Wake up.

Oil prices have fallen—but the Federal Reserve doesn’t care at all.

Deutsche Bank put it plainly: the downside in oil prices brought by the temporary US-Iran peace agreement has pushed down rate-hike expectations for most countries—yet the Federal Reserve is the exception.

Why?

Because what the Federal Reserve is focused on is not oil prices at all.

At the June 18 FOMC meeting, the dot plot showed the most dramatic single shift since 2012—flipping directly from “when to cut rates” to “whether to raise rates.”

Powell’s debut removed the wording that “the next step will be a rate cut.”

This isn’t a Federal Reserve that would change its mind just because oil prices fell 9%.

What they’re seeing is three fires burning at the same time:

Tariffs are driving up prices, the AI boom is pushing up electricity and semiconductor prices, and the energy shock continues to spread.

Oil prices are only one of them. And—if oil prices are falling, what about core PCE?

Market expectations for May PCE are 4.0%-4.1% overall, and 3.4%-3.5% for core PCE.

Even after removing energy and food, inflation is still stubborn.

Bank of America goes straight to the point: “The Fed’s inflation problem has clearly worsened.”

Even more painful: falling oil prices might actually make rate hikes more resolute.

The logic is simple—

Oil prices fall → short-term inflation pressure eases → the economy doesn’t fall into recession → the Federal Reserve has more confidence to raise rates.

You think it’s a positive—but it turns into fuel for rate hikes.

Deutsche Bank also said that risks to rate-hike expectations run both ways: from a dovish perspective, falling oil prices could reduce the urgency of hikes; from a hawkish perspective, a consensus on hikes could be reached as early as July.

How is the market betting right now?

CME data shows: a 52.2% probability of cumulative 25 basis points of rate hikes in September, and a 21.4% probability of 50 basis points—together, more than 73% of people are betting on a September rate hike.

Bank of America even predicts 25 basis points each in September, October, and December, totaling 75 basis points.

Oil prices fell by 9%, but the odds of rate hikes are unmoved.

“Oil price declines are the market’s painkiller, but the Federal Reserve is trying to treat the root cause.”

What is the root cause? It’s the broad spread of inflation expectations, structural price pressures stemming from the AI investment boom, and the long-term effects of tariff policy.

These can’t be solved by just a few months of falling oil prices.

This Thursday and Friday, PCE data will be released. If core PCE really reaches 3.5%, then a rate hike in September will be set in stone.

Don’t blame me for not warning you in advance:

The NASDAQ is falling, chips are soaring, Bitcoin is left hanging above 64,000. Your money is being sucked away by AI.

Yesterday, the US stock market closed with a surreal scene of “ice and fire.”

Micron Technology surged 6.82%, breaking above $1,200 intraday to hit a new all-time high. Intel rose over 5%, AMD increased more than 2.7%, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index jumped 2.04% against the trend, reaching a new high.

On the other side? The Nasdaq plummeted 1.33%. Google tumbled 5%. The tech giants index dropped nearly 1,600 points.

In the same market, semiconductors are celebrating, while big tech is taking a hit.

And Bitcoin — left hanging above $64,000, neither up nor down, like a forgotten pawn.

The market is undergoing a brutal “structural shift.”

Money hasn't disappeared; it’s just moved somewhere else.

Micron’s stock surged nearly 7% before earnings, due to a strategic AI storage agreement with Anthropic. The demand signals for AI chips were validated first, and funds flooded into the semiconductor sector. Meanwhile, overvalued big tech stocks were abandoned, dragging the Nasdaq down.

And what about Bitcoin? It’s not in any camp.

It’s neither an AI beneficiary stock nor a safe-haven asset. In this “selling big tech, buying semiconductors” capital shift game, BTC doesn’t even make the list. Traders are prioritizing buying back strong US stocks, not your cold wallet.

“AI is sucking all the money from the world, and Bitcoin can only watch.”

This is not alarmist. Over the past six months, the total market cap of cryptocurrencies shrank by about $1.16 trillion. Since February 2026, major AI companies have raised approximately $140 billion. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, AI-related startups took about $242 billion from global venture capital, accounting for 80%.

Four hundred billion dollars flowed into AI infrastructure, while Bitcoin ETFs saw outflows of over $4 billion.

Your BTC isn’t being “shorted” — it’s being completely ignored.

And even more brutal cuts are on the way.

CME data shows that the probability of a rate hike in September has risen to 52.2%, with a 21.4% chance of a 50 basis point increase. The chance of holding rates steady in July is 63.7%.

Fed Chair Powell’s debut speech shows that nine officials expect rate hikes this year, according to the dot plot. The 2026 PCE inflation forecast was sharply raised from 2.7% to 3.6%, with core PCE rising to 3.3%.

The expectation of rate hikes has suppressed BTC’s valuation ceiling. The AI boom has drained incremental funds from BTC.

Macro headwinds + micro capital diversion leave Bitcoin caught in the middle, unable to move.

But the real showdown has not yet begun.

This Thursday/Friday, the core PCE data for May will be released. Market expectations are for core PCE to rise to 3.4%.

This will be the final weight behind the Fed’s September rate hike.

Two scenarios, you choose:

Scenario 1: High PCE (bearish)

BTC may follow the Nasdaq downward. But note — the halving narrative + long-term ETF inflows are still in play. The decline might be smaller than tech stocks. There’s a whale bottom near $60k, ready to catch falls.

Scenario 2: Low PCE (bullish)

Bitcoin’s resilience will be very strong. Hike expectations suddenly cool down → dollar index falls → risk assets rebound across the board. The bulls suppressed for a month will spring back like a spring.

The 4-hour candle after PCE release this Friday will determine whether BTC returns to the $70k track or continues struggling in the $65k swamp.

And right now, the fear and greed index is only 23, indicating the market is in “extreme fear.”

“Others are fearful, I am greedy — but only if you have money to be greedy with.”

The question is, is your money still in Bitcoin, or has it already been sucked away by AI? #我的Gate交易时刻 #Gate直通韩股股票 #预测世界杯法国VS伊拉克 $BTC $ETH $SOL

Recently, I’ve been getting a feeling that looking at crypto, you can’t just focus on BTC anymore.
Many news stories actually ferment first in the US stock market before gradually spreading to the crypto market.
For sectors like macroeconomic data, AI, and semiconductors, I’ll be paying more attention lately, as they can help understand market sentiment.
Of course, no one can predict how the market will move, but having multiple perspectives is never a bad thing.
