It always feels like you can only choose between trading and wealth management.
Put the money in an account, and wait for the opportunity.
Or else, don’t just let the extra USDT sit there—do some wealth management to earn a bit of interest.
I’m afraid that when the opportunity comes, I won’t have enough funds.
Seeing Gate’s exclusive launch across the entire platform of stock and CFD account assets that earn interest, idle funds can enjoy up to 3% highest annualized return.
Idle funds in the account don’t affect normal trading, don’t require locking, and don’t need to be staked—earnings are generated automatically.
During the time that used to be just “waiting for opportunities,” it’s no longer zero return.
A good product doesn’t necessarily have to be complicated. It solves a real problem users have.
For me, who trades often, it’s a great choice.

BTC looks pretty tough right now, but in reality the money is just being stirred up by that batch of excitement around the bill. There’s another reason, too: recently, the cooling down and pullback in US stock storage has brought some of the running funds back, and part of that money has also stepped in to buy BTC at what looks like a bottom. Also, recently, that “thousands-of-years-never-endingly impotent” ETH has somehow gotten hard again—honestly, for now I really don’t know how to play it. Going long or going short both don’t seem to have any relatively strong certainty. For the moment, I only have a small BTC short position, and a couple of small long positions—one in Hynix and one in SanDisk. I’ll just hold and watch as I go!

CPI posts the biggest drop in four years, yet Waller says “not satisfied”

Yesterday, the entire crypto circle was popping champagne.

U.S. June CPI fell 0.4% month over month, the largest single-month drop since April 2020. Core CPI rose 2.6% year over year, below the expected 2.8%. Then the PPI also came in cold—up 5.5% year over year, far under the expected 6.2%.

As soon as the data hit, Bitcoin was pulled straight back from around $63k to the $65k area. The Nasdaq climbed nearly 1 point. The market was shouting: Inflation has turned! Rate hikes are gone! The bull market is back!

Then Waller took the stage.

This new Fed chair said, in front of the whole United States:

“I’m not satisfied with any inflation indicator.”

Not satisfied.

CPI posts the biggest drop in four years—you’re not satisfied. Core CPI falls to 2.6%—you’re not satisfied. PPI is broadly below expectations—you’re still not satisfied.

Are you not seeing the data, or do you simply not want to see it?

Waller’s exact words were: “Recent inflation data cannot perfectly reflect the state of underlying inflation.” He added one more thing— the Fed has missed its 2% inflation target for 63 straight months.

63 months. More than five years.

You pass one exam, but in the last five years you’ve failed every one—you think the teacher will praise you?

Waller won’t. He even put out a direct message: the interest-rate tool “is still on the table.”

“Still on the table”—those four words matter ten thousand times more than the CPI data itself.

The market still hasn’t figured out one thing: Waller and his predecessor aren’t the same kind of person at all.

In the Powell era, the market was used to: the better the data, the looser the policy. When inflation drops, rate-cut expectations jump. Traders were trained into reflex reactions.

But Waller doesn’t buy that.

At the hearing, he made it very clear: “Some people may look at today’s data and say ‘mission accomplished,’ but that’s not my view.”

He even labeled the high inflation of the past five years as “a failure on the Fed’s part.”

This is someone who wants to settle every account with the predecessor. Someone who wants to stamp his own hawkish mark into the history of the Fed.

Would someone like that loosen just because of a month of good data?

Don’t dream it.

Just look at the CME numbers.

The probability of a rate hike in July has indeed dropped to 11.2%, but what about September? The probability of cumulative 25 basis points is still 44%.

44%.

The market talks with its mouth—“data is good, no hikes”—but the body is honest: nearly half are betting on another hike in September.

What is this called? This is called an “expectation gap trap.”

You think CPI being good automatically means policy loosens. But Waller tells you: not necessarily. You think you can go all-in. But that cut in September might be on the way.

The harshest part is that Waller made a big move too—setting up five cross-domain working groups to re-review the Fed’s entire inflation framework from scratch, starting from “a blank sheet of paper.”

What does it mean? It means he doesn’t trust the existing inflation indicators. He wants to build his own.

The CPI, PPI, and PCE you’re seeing now may not be the basis for Waller’s decisions in the future. He wants to come up with his own set of things.

A Fed chair who even wants to overturn and rebuild the data standards—do you think he would pivot just because one month’s CPI month-over-month went negative?

“You think inflation data is for the Fed, but actually the Fed is the one setting the standards for inflation data.”

Waller is redefining what “inflation” is. In that process, any “good news data” could be overturned by a single sentence from him.

So my conclusion is simple:

In the short term—CPI data really has given the market a breathing window. Bitcoin bounced from 63K back to 65K; this rebound is real. Not hiking in July is also likely.

But in the medium term—don’t be fooled by a single datapoint.

The 44% probability of a rate hike in September is sitting right there. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East could push oil prices up at any time. Waller’s “zero tolerance” isn’t a slogan—it’s his political lifeline.

If your position is based on the logic that “CPI is better, and the Fed will loosen,” I’d suggest you get clearer.

Waller has already said it plainly: “not satisfied.”

If you insist on interpreting “not satisfied” as “good news,” that’s your own problem. But when you get liquidated, don’t blame anyone for not warning you.

Do you think Waller is genuinely dissatisfied with the data, or is he just sending the market a preemptive warning? #PreIPOs第二期OpenAI认购 #盘前合约上线长鑫存储 #韩国KOSPI暴跌5%触发熔断 $BTC $ETH $BZ

Hey, even though I already apologized yesterday, I still really hope England wins in my heart. But Argentina is genuinely amazing—every time they come back from behind, they score a stoppage-time winner. Everyone’s blaming Tuchel. When you’re leading, you defend. That’s true—after 55 minutes they were leading, and then with 35 minutes left plus added time, you can probably figure it’s about 45 minutes. It’s basically like you have to defend for one and a half halves.

Korea’s rate hike doesn’t just break the KOSPI—it’s a “liquidity pump” for altcoins

Don’t just stare at the K-line chart. Look at what’s happening next door in South Korea—this is a liquidity-and-escape survival game being transmitted across markets.

In the early hours of July 16, all three major U.S. stock indexes rose together, and everything looked peaceful. But the storage-chip sector plunged against the trend: SK hynix ADR fell 9%, SanDisk fell 8%, Western Digital fell more than 8.7%, and Micron fell 8%.

You think this is only a semiconductor story?
That same morning, the Bank of Korea announced a rate hike of 25 basis points to 2.75%, its first hike in more than three and a half years. Inflation can’t be contained anymore—South Korea’s June CPI rose 3.2% year over year, staying above the central bank’s 2% target for four straight months.

The moment the rate-hike news hit, the KOSPI index plunged 6.72% intraday, losing the 6,800-point level. The Korean exchange directly launched a temporary trading halt mechanism to pause algorithmic trading.

In-session, SK hynix fell more than 11% and Samsung Electronics fell 9%. Japanese stocks crashed too: Kioxia fell more than 15%. This is already the eighth time this year that Korea’s stock market has triggered a circuit breaker.

But what does this have to do with the altcoins you hold?

It has a lot to do with it.

South Korean retail investors are the most aggressive participants in the global altcoin market—no exceptions. How did the term “kimchi premium” come about? It was bought by Koreans.

Now, they’re being badly hurt in their home equity market. The KOSPI is down about 25% from its June highs and has officially entered a bear market. Margin-call notifications are flying into South Korean retail investors’ wallets like snow.

Where does the money come from?

Sell stocks? Stocks have already fallen so hard they’re essentially worthless.

They can only sell crypto assets.

Transmission chain:

Korea’s rate hike → tightens liquidity in the KRW → local assets plunge → margin calls → sell overseas liquid assets (including crypto)

This isn’t speculation. The data is already out.

The kimchi premium—the most direct indicator of South Korea retail sentiment—has turned into a “reverse kimchi premium” for multiple days. Bitcoin in the Korean market is cheaper than in the global market.

On July 15, the reverse kimchi premium was -1.79%; on July 16, it was -1.18%.

This means Koreans are dumping. And they’re dumping cheaper than the entire world.

When “kimchi premium” turns into “kimchi discount,” it’s the most naked evidence that South Korea’s liquidity crisis is transmitting into the crypto market.

What’s even more painful is that this chain reaction may be just getting started.

The governor of the Bank of Korea has already said he doesn’t rule out another rate hike within the year. Economists expect the year-end interest rate could reach 3%.

Meanwhile, the KRW has already depreciated 2.93% against the U.S. dollar this year, and in June it briefly slid to 1,561.5—hitting a 17-year low. The South Korean government even plans to use the foreign exchange stabilization fund to buy SK hynix ADR—dollars raised via ADR issuance—to intervene in the exchange rate.

Put it this way: the government wants to use dollars to buy its own company’s ADR to stop the KRW from continuing to fall.

This move itself shows one thing—liquidity is already so tight that administrative measures are needed to patch it up.

What do institutions think?

There’s a huge split.

Future Asset Securities says a pullback is a “highly attractive opportunity to increase exposure.”

What about Goldman Sachs? Customers have strongly resisted the nearly 30% price increase in DRAM, and Goldman has already slightly lowered its Q3 DRAM price-growth expectation.

NAND is partially replacing expensive DRAM—AI servers are using cheaper NAND instead of DRAM to do KV Cache, which is already an “actual trend.”
They’re calling for buying the dip while cutting expectations. Who do you believe?

“When the liquidation bell rings in Seoul, what the crypto market hears isn’t just an echo—it’s the sound of real money withdrawing.”

South Korea isn’t a small market. It’s one of the most active retail-funding pools in the world. Rate hikes raise borrowing costs, and they also make lower-risk, interest-yielding assets more attractive—so the appeal of speculative assets (yes, the altcoins you hold) is declining relatively $BTC $SKHY $MU #PreIPOs第二期OpenAI认购 #SK海力士ADR溢价超30%

The recent market moves in South Korean stocks have been breathtaking.

South Korea’s central bank raised rates for the first time in three and a half years, and the KOSPI index plunged, triggering a trading halt. SK hynix fell directly by more than 11%, after a series of further declines in U.S. stock ADRs last night.

As interest rates rise and liquidity is tightened, there’s less money in the stock market; stocks in the semiconductor sector—those that had already surged—get sold first. With heavy leverage players in the Korean market in large numbers, once prices drop, it’s easy for them to smash each other’s bids.

Those who have already made enough money earlier choose to first pocket their profits, while those who are trapped are all waiting for the government to step in and provide a backstop.

Wash is tough (hawk)
The first thing he does every day is to summarize the latest fundamental picture from the past day
Under the current macro backdrop directly affecting asset volatility
Fundamentals are what need to be understood first, and only then to look at technicals
This applies to crude oil-gold-BTC-US stocks (ordered by impact priority)
To sum up: The current fundamental impact is both bullish and bearish at the same time. July is still in the phase where rate-hike expectations remain low, which is a positive. But after mid-August, rate-hike expectations will reignite, and the September rate-hike expectations will be even higher and bearish.
Therefore, in July the market environment is a range-bound rebound trend (gold $XAU , $BTC ), not a strong one-way market. Avoid chasing longs with emotions, and don’t over-fear chasing shorts either. Buying on pullbacks is the best strategy. The July 30th rate decision meeting basically kept interest rates unchanged, which is bullish.
The only current bearish factor is the escalation of the US-Iran situation, which leads to higher crude oil prices. Although yesterday’s 70-minute bombardment didn’t create too much volatility for gold or crude oil—its impact even seemed to be directly reduced—it hasn’t eliminated the risk in that situation. On the contrary, if high oil prices continue without easing, it will push up inflation expectations again, offsetting the recent CPI and PPI tailwind that has been weak.
In addition, the past two days, in the testimonies Wash delivered at hearings in both houses of Congress, he also conveyed important bearish information. Wash is “tough (hawk)”. In both appearances, his posture was consistent: zero tolerance for persistently high inflation. But the inflation task hasn’t been completed. CPI and other indicators are not the only reference. He is not going along with Trump’s demands for rate cuts, and there is still tail risk for additional rate hikes this year.
Overall, current fundamentals are somewhat contradictory, but as time passes, events will become clearer. As long as the US-Iran conflict doesn’t keep escalating, oil prices don’t keep breaking upward, and inflation will naturally cool—then all is good. Conversely, if stagflation restarts, it’s bad for gold, crypto, and US stocks.
If you think the summary is good, follow and check, and then read the subsequent market interpretations.

CPI slides into negative growth + PPI collapses—yet the Fed is still “stubborn with its mouth”—

This “data slaps back” drama—BTC wins big

On July 14, CPI posted its first month-over-month negative growth in six years.

On July 15, PPI came in at 5.5% year-over-year versus 6.2% expected, directly blowing up all analysts’ faces. Month-over-month it fell 0.3%, the largest one-month decline since April 2020.

Two days. Two sets of data. One slap after another.

So what did the Fed say next?

Voith: “Some may say the job is done—I don’t see it that way.”

Waller is even harsher: If inflation keeps making no progress for a long time, rate hikes should be considered.

You don’t buy the CPI negative growth. You still don’t buy the PPI collapse.

First, look at the data.

June CPI fell 0.4% month-over-month, while expectations were only -0.1%—the actual drop is four times the expected decline. Core CPI rose 2.6% year-over-year versus 2.8% expected. Energy prices plunged 5.7% month-over-month, pressing inflation to the ground and rubbing it in.

PPI is even more extreme—down 0.3% month-over-month, with forecasts unchanged. Core PPI rose 4.7% year-over-year versus 5.2% expected.

One detail: all four sets of prior readings were revised downward. This shows the data from the past few months was already inflated, and the current cooling is even sharper than you think.

The market went into full frenzy. The probability of a rate hike in July plunged from 46% to 15%, then further to 10%. Two-year Treasury yields crashed by 14 basis points in a single day. Bitcoin surged through $65,500 intraday. Total crypto market capitalization broke above $2.3 trillion.

The market is voting with its feet, while the Fed is still using its mouth to talk about rate hikes.

So the question is—why is the Fed so hard-headed with its “talk”?

Because the cooling in June CPI relied on a sudden crash in oil prices. In June, the energy index fell 5.7% month-over-month, with gasoline plunging 9.7%.

And why did oil prices fall? The U.S.-Iran ceasefire, and the Strait of Hormuz reopened.

But the ceasefire already broke down. On July 8, the U.S. carried out airstrikes, Iran imposed blockades, and Brent jumped back from $70 per barrel to $86.

June CPI reflected a world that no longer exists.

The Fed knows this. What are they afraid of? They fear that once they loosen up and say “inflation is done,” financial markets will instantly celebrate—U.S. stocks soar, BTC rockets, and financial conditions ease across the board—then inflation will rebound in minutes and show you right then and there.

So what are they doing? Managing expectations—using words to talk about rate hikes, buying time.

But there’s a truth that’s most favorable to BTC:

As long as the data truly cools, capital will sprint and front-run early. By the time the Fed is forced to turn dovish, BTC will already be nowhere near where it started.

Look—rate hike odds fell from 46% to 10%, Treasury yields collapsed, the dollar dropped—these are real money flows, not a few lines from the Fed that can be blocked with words.

Voith can be stubborn with his mouth, Waller can go hawkish, but the bond market doesn’t listen to them, traders don’t listen to them, and BTC definitely doesn’t listen either.

Never panic-sell when the Fed tries to “manage expectations.”

Watch which direction they ultimately end up “admitting fault” to.

At the moment, the lay of the cards is clear: the data has already slapped the officials twice. CPI—slap. PPI—slap. Whether the Fed’s face is swollen or not doesn’t matter; what matters is whether your position is swollen.

The PCE data at the end of July, plus oil prices that keep climbing—these two things will decide who loses first in this “data vs. statements” showdown.

But no matter who wins, BTC is already waiting above $65,000.

“The Fed’s mouth is the least valuable asset in the market. And data is the only thing that never lies.”
