It leverages blockchain technology and Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) to enhance research transparency, distribute funds more equitably, and introduce innovative researcher incentives. DeSci is currently applied in healthcare, academic publishing, and data management. Despite security and governance challenges, DeSci is poised to make science more open and fair as Web3 technology advances.
