Personally, I don't see the conversation around the 1,096,361 BTC as an attempt to create fear around Bitcoin. I see it as an opportunity to think more seriously about Bitcoin's future.
One thing I've observed is that people sometimes mistake difficult questions for attacks on something they believe in. But I don't think asking questions about Bitcoin's long-term security means you're against Bitcoin.
