According to official news, Aptos Labs announced the launch of Shardines, the next generation of blockchain execution engine, aiming to achieve horizontal scalability and over 1 million TPS. It is reported that the blockchain execution engine can be scaled independently of consensus and storage. This allows validator operators to optimize resources and enhance system flexibility. Shardines uses a dynamic partitioner to minimize cross-shard network communication and waiting time, adapting to constantly changing workloads. The innovative ‘micro-batching and pipelining’ strategy further reduces the impact of network latency by amortizing costs, ensuring high performance. In addition, the team has open-sourced a fully reproducible benchmark for Shardines for blockchain enthusiasts to verify the results.
