China Invites Like-Minded Countries To Join BRICS Co-op
Palestine applied to join the BRICS alliance but received no response from the bloc yet. During a media inquiry in Beijing, the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Guo Jiakun was pressed about the topic by journalists. However, Jiakun skirted the question and encouraged developing countries to participate in the BRICS co-op (co-operation).
Jiakun stressed that the BRICS co-op is an important platform for developing countries and emerging markets. He explained that discussions could inject a strong momentum into the advancement of a multipolar world. In addition, he revealed that the democratization of international relations has won accolades and broad recognition from the Global South countries.

BRICS co-op is an effort by member nations to advance economic growth, global governance reform, and geopolitical stability. The main and key areas of cooperation include trade, finance, health, people-to-people exchanges, and science and technology. The focus is also to maintain a balanced global order and foster sustainable development.
The advancement of the New Development Bank (NDB) is also a part of the BRICS co-op talks. The 2025 talks highlighted the creation of new mineral corridors with the African continent. Africa currently holds around 30% of the world’s known critical mineral reserves. The minerals include cobalt and about half of the manganese reserves.
