When I see an alert about a large stablecoin mint, it’s easy to assume that new money has arrived and the next step will be buying crypto.
But I first check how far the transaction has actually progressed.
Take USDT, for example. The issuer prepares authorized reserves that have not yet been issued into circulation. An on-chain mint record doesn’t mean the same amount has entered the market, let alone that it’s about to buy a particular coin.

Even if a change benefits long-term demand, that doesn’t mean buying pressure will appear immediately in the short term; and a short-term decline alone can’t invalidate every long-term observation.

When looking at an on-chain address, I remind myself: receiving coins only tells me that coins came in. To know whether they were bought, I need to investigate further.
It could be a transfer between the holder’s own addresses, a distribution claim, a reward, or assets withdrawn from a protocol. Taking a screenshot of a single incoming transfer and calling it “whale accumulation” skips over too much information.
