Intraday buying at the lows has somewhat recovered, safe-haven sentiment briefly intensified, and the slight weakening of the index indirectly provided some support for gold prices, while short-term bears have temporarily paused their push.

After bottoming, a round of rebound followed, with the low steadily rising and short-term bulls briefly gaining the upper hand. However, the pace of the rise has gradually slowed, resistance is approaching overhead, and momentum has weakened somewhat.

The recent b wave low coincided nicely with RSI support.
If the expected c wave of the larger B wave is now developing, I would expect:
→ RSI to break the circled overhead resistance
→ Momentum to strengthen
→ Price action to become increasingly impulsive
An eventual move towards overbought RSI would add further confirmation.
If RSI continues to reject this resistance, however, it would make me increasingly cautious about the bullish short-term count.
Let momentum confirm the wave count rather than forcing the count onto price.

Gold on the evening of August 18:
On the 1-hour chart, the upper Bollinger Band around 4435 is forming clear resistance. After rising and retreating, gold is currently fluctuating near the middle Bollinger Band. Short-term RSI6 has fallen to 35.30, and bullish momentum has weakened somewhat.
Upside resistance is at 4436, with short-term support at 4381. The short-term trend has entered a consolidation phase. The broader bullish structure remains intact, so the short term can temporarily be viewed as range-bound, with the evening strategy remaining to buy on pullbacks.
