You might think this is unexpected since it's a metric that tracks the amount of BTC held by long-term holders for 155+ days.
But the buys behind this record mostly happened months ago.
A lot of holders bought BTC during the selloff earlier this year and kept it. Those buys are the ones counted toward the long-term holder supply.
The important context here is timing.
Toward euphoric cycle tops, long-term holder supply usually falls as older holders sell into strength.
