The record transaction count and the Alpenglow upgrade both landed this week, and SOL still sits near $101.43, a few dollars above the round number everyone is watching. I treated the week like an event study: what happened on each day, what the price did, and what the evidence says about the next move.
The record behind the hashtag
Solana reported 8.92 billion non-vote transactions for Q3 2026, up 104% from Q4 2025 and about 24% from Q2's 7.19 billion. Those numbers describe network activity, and the week's price action shows that activity and price do not always move together.
Day by day
October 21, upgrade day. Alpenglow took over on mainnet-beta, with transaction finality dropping from about 12.8 seconds to a target of 150 milliseconds. SOL rose about 2.7% to around $108.80 after 12 straight sessions of ETF outflows. Solana ETFs took in about $585,000 that day, ending a streak of outflows.
October 22, the reversal. SOL fell 5.2% the next day. The decline happened as the Nasdaq dropped 2.6% and chip stocks sold off, so the move cannot be pinned on the upgrade alone. One commentator summed it up with a pointed comparison: the network got 85 times faster and the token went down 2%.
October 23, consolidation. SOL traded near $103.97, with a market capitalization of $61.27 billion, ranking seventh, and 24-hour volume of $1.95 billion.
October 24, the test. SOL was down 1.53% at $101.34, with a 7-day decline of 1.80%. At $101.43, price is about 1.1% above the October 18 low of $100.32.
What Alpenglow did, and did not, prove
A block can now finalize in one round if validators holding 80% of stake back it, or in two rounds at 60%. The migration needed validators holding at least 82% of staked SOL to sign off, and validators running Firedancer and Frankendancer, about 15.8% of stake, had to switch temporarily to Agave-based software. One caveat matters for anyone quoting the speed: independent post-activation measurements of achieved finality were still pending, and realized performance will vary with network conditions. The 150 milliseconds is a design target until measured.
The ETF angle
Institutional demand has been the weak link. U.S. Solana ETFs recorded net outflows of $17 million between October 19 and 22, with inflows on only two days all month. That puts net outflows at $59.1 million in under three weeks. By my math, that is small against a $60 billion market cap, at about 0.1%, but the direction matters more than the size. Spot Solana funds are also the only ones that launched with staking enabled, so the flows are a read on how institutions value the yield plus the price.
The $100 line
SOL bounced off $100 twice in October, on the 15th and the 18th. That makes it the key support, and a close below the October 18 low would break it. The next supports are $98, where the 200-day EMA sits near $97.95, and, if the pattern below plays out, the $80 area.
The pattern risk
Technical analysis highlights a daily head-and-shoulders formation, where a sustained breakdown below $100 risks cascading stop-loss liquidations toward lower support zones near $80. A head-and-shoulders is a reversal pattern, and the neckline is the level that matters. By my math, $80 is about 21% below $101.43, so it is a worst-case reference and not a forecast.
Resistance map
The 50-day EMA near $107 is the pivot, and holding above it would turn old resistance into support. The 20-day and 50-day averages cluster near $110. Beyond that sit the monthly open near $118 and the September 25 close of $122. From $101.43, $107 is about 5.5% higher, $110 about 8.4% higher, $118 about 16.3% higher and $122 about 20.3% higher. SOL is also about 14% below its $118 October open by my arithmetic.
Risk and reward
A long near $101.43 with a stop under $100 risks roughly 1.4%. A target at $107 offers about 5.5%, close to 4 times the risk, and $110 offers about 8.4%, near 6 times. But the $100 level is crowded, and stops placed just below a well-known round number are often swept, so I would size small and use a closing basis.
A decision tree
If SOL closes above $107 on rising volume, the structure improves and $110 comes into play. If it chops between $100 and $107, the market is waiting for flows to turn. If it closes below $100, the head-and-shoulders risk becomes the main scenario, with $98 as the first stop on the way down.
What would change the picture
Several consecutive days of ETF inflows, a confirmed measurement of the finality gains and a calmer equity tape. A broader reset in tech, such as another sharp drop in the Nasdaq, would work the other way.
My take
The network is busy and faster, and the token is still waiting for buyers. I would let price prove it, keep size modest and treat a daily close below $100 as the signal to step aside.
Technology moves in milliseconds, but investors move in quarters. The gap between those two clocks is where this week's chart sits, and it will close only when usage turns into flows.

Chasing pumps and panic-selling are among the most common pitfalls in technical trading: seeing a token top the 24h gainers list and entering a market long often means buying right as it moves beyond the upper Bollinger Band. $T is showing this classic pattern now—the current price of 0.00743 has clearly surged above the upper Bollinger Band at 0.0066044, and the RSI is as high as 92.8, putting it in severely overbought territory. Although MA5 (0.005746) is well above MA20 (0.004886), with the bullish moving-average structure intact, and the MACD histogram at +0.0002953 is still expanding, th

Is it a good time to buy the dip in crypto?❓
My personal view: Don’t rush to go all in. You can build a position in stages using a pyramid approach, starting with a small position for now.
Bitcoin is down only 7–8% from its September high and is currently hovering around $80,000, still a long way from its all-time high. Altcoins have fallen further, and some projects with real revenue are relatively cheaper now.
But this looks more like a period of consolidation and correction than a clear bottom. ETF flows are coming and going, the Fed meeting is still ahead, and risk appetite is low. So the

Market analysis:
The hourly chart previously formed a coherent major downtrend, with the price falling continuously from a high of 84825. After finding a short-term low at 79170, buying came in to provide support. The current price is 80831, trading above the middle Bollinger Band, with the bands spanning 79988–81083. After heavy-volume selling during the main decline, selling pressure gradually eased. Candlesticks formed a stabilization base at low levels, and the center of the trading range has slowly moved higher. The market has entered a short-term recovery window following

Many people treat “buy the dip” as a discipline, but overlook one prerequisite: which asset in the same sector is holding up best. The real information on a down day isn’t the size of the drop itself, but relative strength—when all are pulling back, capital flows determine which one can recover first.
Looking at three assets in the same sector: $AV is down 10.24% over 24h, with a 30-candle range of nearly 29.77%, showing out-of-control volatility; $WLD is down 2.99%, but its funding rate is -0.0126%, with crowded shorts and a fragile structure. $FIL is down 3.15%, with a trading volume of 7

$BTC BTC fell below $80k and then bounced back. Did anyone really buy the dip this time?
This weekend's market action was quite a roller coaster. BTC hit a low of $79,178 before returning to around $80.8k.
But don't rush to call a bottom yet; two sets of data are worth a look.
On October 22, U.S. spot BTC ETFs saw net outflows of about $635 million, followed by another $138 million in outflows on the 23rd. The two-day total exceeded $770 million.
That's a bit awkward. Just a few days ago, everyone was discussing institutional capital flowing back in, and now it's pulling out again.

Let’s first make a note of the protests on the streets of Israel: the election is set for Tuesday, October 27. The protesters’ two core demands—replacing the government and holding an independent investigation into the security failures of October 7—have become intertwined, forming a single political chain: without accountability, they won’t accept the current government staying in power; without a change of government, an independent investigation will be hard to trust. So the pressure on Netanyahu isn’t coming from outside—it’s coming from internal political calculations. Take the recent rou

You can tell whether this Nasdaq breakout is real or fake by looking at futures open interest—when it piles up to a new high, a major move is just around the corner. A real breakout pushes higher with fresh capital coming in; a fake one is when positions pile up and then a single wick stabs downward. It’s that simple. Don’t ask why. Data centers may face oversupply by 2028 as rapid expansion driven by artificial intelligence demand risks creating more capacity than the market can immediately absorb.
Companies across the technology sector have been accelerating construction of new facilities at an unprecedented pace to support the training and inference needs of large language models and other advanced AI systems. This buildout has already pushed global data center power demand higher by roughly 31 percent year over year into 2026 according to industry trackers, with projec
