In July, global capital markets continued a structural recovery amid slowing growth momentum, persistent inflation, and the constraints of elevated interest rates.

Key highlights from last month:

• Macro Trends: U.S. equities remained driven by the AI theme, but capital became increasingly concentrated in large technology platforms with stronger profitability and more predictable cash flows. High-beta growth stocks and resource-related sectors showed clear divergence. While institutional risk appetite improved somewhat, positioning remained cautious. In crypto markets, spot Ethereum ETFs recorded significantly stronger inflows than Bitcoin ETFs, suggesting that institutional investors are beginning to shift from a purely defensive stance toward relative-value allocation across major crypto assets.
• Key Trends: Tokenized equities and prediction markets have become the two primary growth drivers of on-chain finance, with CEXs, brokerage platforms, and public blockchain ecosystems competing for liquidity entry points. Prediction markets continued to expand in July, with total taker trading volume reaching US$18.57 billion, up 14.6% from June, representing a monthly increase of approximately US$2.36 billion.
• Industry Developments: Ethereum staking surpassed 40.9 million ETH in July, accounting for approximately 33.5% of the total ETH supply and marking the first time the staking ratio has consistently exceeded one-third of total supply. While this strengthens network security, it also raises concerns over validator concentration. Meanwhile, a series of attacks, including the AFX Trade incident, indicates that DeFi security risks are shifting from smart contract vulnerabilities toward private key management, upgrade permissions, and cross-chain verification mechanisms.
