Gate has now launched the spot POV algorithmic order feature, providing a smarter order-splitting execution tool for large buy or sell scenarios. POV is a type of large-order splitting order. Its core logic is to gradually execute an order based on actual market trading volume and the target participation rate set by the user, helping users avoid a significant impact on market prices caused by placing a large order all at once.
POV algorithmic orders are suitable for users with relatively large order amounts who do not need the entire order to be filled immediately but place greater emphasis on execution quality. They are especially suitable for highly liquid trading pairs such as BTC and ETH. When placing an order, users can set the total quantity, target participation rate, and validity period. The target participation rate can be understood as "the approximate proportion of market trading volume that the user hopes their own executed volume will account for", such as 5%, 10%, 20%, or 40%. When market trading is active, the system will appropriately increase the order size; when the market is quiet, the order book is thin, or the price does not meet the limit conditions, it will reduce order placement or pause execution.
During execution, the system will not place the entire large order on the order book all at once. Instead, it continuously observes market trading conditions over short time slices and, in combination with order book depth, the remaining unfilled quantity, and the limit price set by the user, splits the order into multiple IOC limit sub-orders for matching. Simply put, the system determines an appropriate order size for the current round based on market trading volume in the previous time slice, while also taking into account the available quantity in the order book and the remaining order quantity, in order to avoid excessive execution at one time that could cause chasing prices, market dumping, or price slippage.
At the same time, POV algorithmic orders feature an automatic correction mechanism and do not place orders mechanically in fixed quantities. When the actual execution ratio is lower than the target participation rate, the system may moderately increase execution in subsequent time slices. When the actual execution ratio is higher than the target participation rate, the system may enter a silent state, reducing order placement or pausing for a period of time so that the overall execution pace gradually returns to the target range.
When using POV algorithmic orders, users should configure the settings based on their own trading needs, the liquidity of the trading pair, and market conditions. This type of order does not guarantee full execution, and actual execution results will be affected by factors such as market activity, order book depth, target participation rate, limit price, and order validity period. In the future, Gate will continue to improve its algorithmic trading tool system, providing a more efficient, flexible, and professional trading experience for users with different trading sizes and strategy needs.
