Usage Tips

Safekeeping mnemonic phrases is crucial, as it is the only means to recover your assets in case of wallet loss. Once you've created your phrases, the safest method is to write them down and store the paper securely offline. Never store your phrases online, share them with anyone, or use mnemonics from others, like those found on the internet or given by a friend.
Your hardware wallet is a critical protector of your assets. Avoid using wallets that arrive in tampered packaging or appear to be activated upon delivery.
Do not operate your hardware wallet in extreme conditions, including areas with high or low temperatures, strong magnetic fields, static electricity, moisture, or exposure to chemicals.
Damage to your hardware wallet does not mean your assets are lost. If the wallet stops working due to an irreparable issue or gets lost, reach out to official support and use your private key backup to recover your assets.

Product Overview

Gate Wallet hardware wallet features a simple and user-friendly design. Below is the feature chart of the device:

Initial Setup

A. Power on

Long press the power button to start the device.

B. Choose language

Select Simplified Chinese or English at initialization.
After selecting the language, press the "O" button to continue.

C. Set up Bluetooth

Set up or skip this step as needed.

D. Create or import a wallet

New users: Create a new wallet, set the mnemonic phrases, and memorize them.
Existing users: Import wallet by entering the mnemonic phrase.

E. Set PIN code

Use the "⋀" and "⋁" buttons to scroll and select numbers, then press the "0" button to confirm them.
You can erase a selected number by moving the cursor to its right using the "Backspace" button and then pressing the "0" button.
Enter the PIN code two times to verify it. If two entries are inconsistent, you will be prompted to reset it.

F. Enroll Your Fingerprint

Begin the fingerprint enrollment after PIN code is set.
You need to touch the button 6 times to complete the setup, Please use the same finger for all touches.

G. Mnemonic Phrase

Choose the length of mnemonic words you desire: 12 or 24 words
Write down the mnemonic words on a paper and verify them.
The mnemonic words will be required for importing the wallet.

After finishing the above setup process, your Gate Wallet is all set for use. It will bridge you to the GateWeb3 platform conveniently, seamlessly linking you to secure and user-friendly decentralized financial services.

Important Notes

After three unsuccessful fingerprint attempts, the wallet will prompt for the PIN code. Three incorrect PIN entries will lock the device. You'll need to restart it and enter the correct PIN to regain access. If the PIN is forgotten, restore the wallet using the mnemonic phrase.
Before resetting your device, make sure to back up your mnemonic phrase. A reset will wipe all sensitive information from the device, including seeds, private keys, and PIN codes.
Your mnemonic phrase acts as the private key to your wallet, so it should be stored safely and in a way that ensures it isn't lost. Storing the phrase online is not recommended, as it could lead to theft. Instead, write down your mnemonic phrase on a physical medium and keep it in a location that is both fireproof and waterproof, such as a safe or a bank safety deposit box. To be extra cautious, make multiple backups and store them in different secure locations.

Transaction Signing

After a transfer request is initiated on the App, you need to sign your signature on the hardware wallet to authorize the transaction :

Unlock the device and wait for the "Please Sign" prompt to appear on the display screen, indicating a signature request.
Press the "0" button to view the "Withdrawal Address" and ensure it matches the address displayed on the App.
Press the "0" button again to check the "Withdrawal Amount," confirming it corresponds with the amount shown in the App. Use the “⋀” and “⋁” buttons to toggle between the withdrawal address and the amount screens.
Press the "O" button and select "Confirm Signature √" to complete the operation. Then, you will return to the main interface, and the App will show a message confirming the signature's success.
To cancel the transaction, press the “⋀” button to select "X". This will terminate the transaction, and you will be redirected to the main menu.

Settings

On the Settings page, you can modify your settings as follows:

Change password: Input PIN code to set a new PIN code.
Modify fingerprint: Input PIN code to enroll a new fingerprint.
Reset device: Choose "Yes" and enter the PIN code to initialize the hardware wallet; Choose "No" to return to the previous page.
Bluetooth: Enable or disable Bluetooth connectivity. Choose between 'Automatic' or 'Manual' for the connection mode.
Language: Switch between different languages.
Help: Read brief operation instructions.
About: Understand version information.
Return: Exit Settings and return to the main menu.
