I think about this often

I just came out of a Vipassana retreat where I meditated over 100 hours in silence for 10 days.
No phone. No books. No music. No talking.
The gong rings.
By now the sound is familiar. We all know what it means. It's time to meditate.
Ten hours of sitting, complete silence, no distractions. Brutal and beautiful all at once.
I felt called to do this. I wanted to know what would happen if I removed every source of external input from my consciousness.
There was only me, my senses, and my awareness.
What followed felt like a deep mental housecleaning.
With nowhere to run, every thought, every emot

watched The Odyssey yesterday in IMAX (first time)
and it completely changed my perspective on square-ish aspect ratios
I’ve been used to editing in 16:9 which is similar to the 35mm example in pic 2
Nolan shot this in 1.43:1, a nearly square frame
as a result, the movie felt so much more immersive, not just because the screen is large but because there’s a lot more vertical space
that vertical space sits right in your periphery, meaning you absorb much more visual information at a glance than 16:9 (let alone anamorphic ratios)
