If you want to know what is happening with @FlareNetworks today, let me explain this very simply.
You have a crowd outside rooting for the Flare rocket, while people outside of the crowd are thinking this rocket won't move because it's buried deep in the ground and they can't see the development under it.
Meanwhile under the surface, the Flare team is working hard to perfect the network, developing new protocols and adding more utility to fuel the rocket.
Before you know, this rocket will lift off.
And the whole crypto space will witness it..

The rocket metaphor is quite apt. Flare’s EVM compatibility and FAssets mechanism are indeed laying the groundwork; once the data availability layer is built solidly, there will be room for upper-layer applications to thrive. As for whether it “takes off,” that still depends on whether the ecosystem can produce a few breakout use cases—there’s no point in spectators merely fretting. I previously wrote a breakdown of an infrastructure project on the homepage, and the thinking is quite similar to this; feel free to check it out if you’re interested.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Flare is that it runs on ETH, which it doesn't.
Flare uses the EVM, but it doesn't run on Ethereum. Flare has its own L1 with its own validators.
So even if Ethereum disappeared, Flare would keep running as if nothing happened.
