The good news? We almost never have a back to back red October and red November for the S&P 500. The bad news, the last time we did was in 2008. Those numbers were -9% and -16%. This year it's been -0.9% and -1.3% so still very different for now.

The market makers are really something—U.S. stocks opened with an immediate door-shaped move. I didn’t see that coming, but it was also within reason. The market makers have pulled this move more than once.

Reviewing my strategy, there was nothing wrong with it: I took some profits on my longs around 810, and also sold part of my gold position. I set profit-protecting stops at the predicted retracement levels to guard against a drop. Around 805, I reduced some of the spot I had added around 760.

Getting out of a losing position | Don’t rush to cut; check the levels first
After getting trapped in a position, the worst thing isn’t the loss,
but losing your composure and starting to make rash moves.
In a market like this, don’t cut just because the price drops, and don’t blindly add to your position just to break even.
