Previously, in 2021, Morgan Stanley became one of the first major U.S. banks to offer Bitcoin funds to its clients. In 2024, it actively started marketing spot Bitcoin ETFs such as BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust and Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund to specific clients.

These developments are seen as part of the bank's strategy to expand its digital asset services. In addition, Senator Cynthia Lummis' appointment as chair of the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Digital Assets is considered an important step towards creating clearer regulatory frameworks for cryptocurrencies and digital assets in the US.

Ultimately, Morgan Stanley's efforts to expand its cryptocurrency services and Senator Lummis's leadership indicate further integration of digital assets into the financial system in the United States.
