Tech stocks are collapsing across the board—where is the money going? Don’t just focus on Nvidia! The next winners in U.S. stocks may be hiding in these sectors!
U.S. stocks put on a major nosedive Thursday. The Nasdaq fell 5.5%, the S&P 500 fell 4.4%, and tech stocks including Nvidia, AMD, and Microsoft all slumped. The AI trade that markets loved most in the past has suddenly become the place investors most want to avoid.
So the question is: now that tech stocks have lost their shine, where will capital go next?
I think three areas are worth watching.
First, consumer staples. When economic and market uncertainty rises, companies selling essentials such as food and household goods often see relatively stable demand, and their earnings may fluctuate less than those of high-valuation tech stocks.
Second, utilities. AI data centers depend on electricity. Though utilities may also be hit by market panic in the short term, long-term power demand and infrastructure investment are still worth watching. But keep in mind that power stocks are not a natural safe haven; excessive valuations can still get punished.
Third, gold and high-quality short-term bonds. Gold can help diversify a portfolio, while short-term Treasuries can provide relatively predictable returns and liquidity.
As for tech giants, I wouldn’t give up on them all too easily. Companies with stable cash flow, strong balance sheets, and the ability to commercialize AI are still worth researching for the long term.
My strategy isn’t to rush to find the next ten-bagger, but to first reduce my portfolio’s dependence on a single AI theme. After all, when the market winds pick up, finding an umbrella matters more than figuring out which company’s rocket will fly higher. #每周来晒 and #美股史诗级抛售
