#DemocratsWinBothHousesOfCongress

Democrats have retaken full control of Congress in Nov 3 midterms, setting up divided rule as White House stays GOP. This is first time since 2023 that one party holds both chambers while rival holds presidency.

House: AP tally shows Dem 235 won plus 26 leading, GOP 146 plus 28 leading, 218 needed for control. NBC projects at least 258 seats for Dems, with over 60 still to be called. Dems held 215 before vote, GOP 219 plus one caucus ally. Net gain at least 20 seats. Vote share 60.2 million Dem vs 47.5 million GOP.

Upper house: Dems needed four to flip 100-member body. Decision Desk HQ and NBC project Dem lead 54-44 with two still to be called. Flips came in Iowa, Kansas, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas - six GOP-held seats, with some desks counting seven. This sweep in red turf signals deep anti-incumbent mood. New Congress starts Jan 3 2027.

Policy shift: Divided rule reshapes outlook.
• Tech: Unified GOP rule had eased merger review and AI chip curbs. With Dem House, expect tighter antitrust push, data privacy bill, and closer look at AI safety. Yet divided rule means no sweeping law passes, so gridlock may help big tech stay bid. • Crypto: Market reads Dem Congress as more pro rulebook. Expect push for market structure bill, stablecoin framework, and clear split of oversight between SEC and CFTC. Divided rule may actually speed deal, as both sides want win. BTC rebound above 80,475 after vote fits this hope. • Fiscal: Dem House can block deep tax cuts and push for higher spend on health and infra. White House can veto. Result is likely no big fiscal impulse, lower deficit risk vs GOP sweep, which is bond-friendly and USD-soft.
Market: US futures mixed, Asia mixed, then risk bid returned. S&P rallied, Dow added 1,500 points on Nov 4-5, oil eased to three-week low, yields dipped, gold held above 4,100, BTC retook 80K. Short squeeze of 453M in crypto helped.

Trader view: Divided rule is known market-friendly set up. No single party can push extreme law. For crypto, watch House Financial Services and upper house Banking chairs for hearing dates. For tech, watch FTC and DOJ tone. For rates, less fiscal push means Fed has more room. Risk of shutdown rises, which can add volatility near funding deadlines.

Bottom line: Dems win both chambers, divided rule begins. Expect friction, but also room for narrow deals on crypto market rules and infra. Market likes gridlock, but headline risk stays high into Jan 3.
