#BTCBreaksPastMidtermBearishPattern $BTC #ShareWeekly
Bitcoin has broken a historical pattern, but has it actually escaped the bearish cycle?
That is the question I find more interesting than simply celebrating BTC trading above its 200-day moving average.
On November 3, U.S. Midterm Election Day, Bitcoin traded around $76,990, approximately 5.2% above its 200-day moving average near $73,169. That is a meaningful difference from the 2014, 2018 and 2022 midterm elections, when BTC was trading below the same long-term trend indicator.
The historical comparison is worth watching. But three previous observations are not enough to establish a reliable trading rule. What matters now is whether Bitcoin can maintain this stronger position when market pressure returns.
A Different Structure, Not Yet a Confirmed Bull Market
There is a positive argument here.
In previous midterm cycles, Bitcoin entered election day with a much weaker long-term structure. This time, despite the substantial correction from its October 2025 peak above $126,000, BTC is still holding above its 200-day average.
That suggests the correction has not damaged the longer-term trend to the same extent as those previous cycles.
However, there is an important distinction between being above the 200-day average and having strong momentum.
Bitcoin can remain above its long-term average while trading below shorter-term averages, struggling with selling pressure and failing to attract fresh demand. A market can look structurally healthier on a long-term chart while remaining difficult for short-term traders.
The 200-Day Level Is the Real Test
Looking at my November 4 BTC chart, the price is around $77,981.9, while the 200-day moving average is near $73,183.4.
That puts BTC approximately 6.6% above this long-term reference level.
The nearby price structure is also important. The $77,000 area is an immediate zone to watch, with support levels around $76,944 and $76,030. Below those, $75,500 becomes another important downside reference.
On the upside, Bitcoin needs to deal with resistance around $81,974 before the stronger resistance zone near $84,284 comes into focus.
A sustained recovery above $81,974 would improve the short-term picture. A move toward $84,284 would provide a more convincing test of whether buyers are regaining control.
On the other hand, losing the $76,000–$75,500 area could bring the 200-day average back into focus. A decisive break below that moving average would weaken the argument that this cycle has maintained a stronger long-term structure.
These are chart-based reference levels, not guaranteed turning points.
Macro Conditions Still Matter
The election pattern is only one part of the story.
ETF flows, institutional demand, interest-rate expectations, employment data and broader risk appetite can all influence Bitcoin. Recent reports have also highlighted pressure from spot ETF outflows and uncertainty around the U.S. economic outlook.
Even a technically healthy market can struggle if liquidity becomes tighter or investors reduce exposure to risk assets.
There is another detail worth remembering: historical data has shown that Bitcoin's first few months after previous midterm elections could be volatile, even though its performance over the following year was stronger in those past cycles.
That is interesting context, but it is not a promise that 2027 will repeat the same outcome.
My Take
I consider Bitcoin holding above its 200-day average a positive structural signal, especially when compared with the previous three midterm election cycles.
But I would not call this a confirmed bullish breakout yet. I want to see buyers reclaim the $81,974 area, build momentum toward $84,284 and defend the important support zones during any pullback.
The difference between this cycle and previous cycles may be real, but the market still has to prove it through price action and sustained demand.
Do you think BTC has genuinely broken the historical midterm bearish pattern, or is holding above the 200-day moving average only buying time before another correction?
Not financial advice.
