Apple delivered a solid report: quarterly revenue of $114.5 billion, up 12% year over year, and earnings per share of $2.10, with both iPhone and Services performing strongly.
But interestingly, strong earnings don’t mean the stock has to rise immediately. Sometimes the capital markets are like a picky food critic: a good dish is just the baseline—you also have to see whether the next meal brings a surprise.
Apple currently faces three real-world challenges.
First, while the iPhone is strong, the market is more concerned about whether growth can continue through the holiday shopping season. Second, Services hit a record high, but its growth rate and profit quality still need to be watched. Finally, while AI investment has been relatively restrained, Apple must deliver genuinely compelling products.
In addition, rising costs for components such as memory could squeeze hardware margins. Apple expects a gross margin of 45% to 46% next quarter, below the 47.9% in the quarter that just ended.
My view is that Apple’s ecosystem moat remains valuable, but the stock price ultimately depends on whether future earnings can match its current valuation.
Good companies are worth watching, and a good price matters too. You can remain confident in Apple, but don’t treat an earnings report as an automatic button for the stock to rise!

Gold surged rapidly last night, driven by positive news on Iran peace talks, reaching a high of 3970. The previous outlook had forecast resistance at 3960–65 amid news-driven moves. Today, continue to monitor developments in Iran peace talks and the U.S. midterm elections.
Resistance is at 3965–70, with strong resistance at the 3988–90 threshold; support is at 3920–25. The overall market is weak, with limited room for a rebound and greater downside potential.
On the 4-hour timeframe, the broader downtrend remains intact. Stick to shorting rallies at resistance; do not chase gains or losses, and wait patiently for the right levels.
Trading recommendations
Short gold on a rebound to 3965–3970; add on a rebound to 3980–85, with risk control at 3996. Target 3920–3925, then 3900–3905 if support breaks.
