The jobs report comes out at 8:30 Friday, making this the week it sets the market’s direction. Tech earnings have already hammered the Nasdaq. Apple reports after the close tonight, and AMD’s earnings and Election Day are both on Tuesday, so volatility could be significant. Sitting on cash and waiting for the data is more reliable than guessing the direction. When it comes to purchasing power, I’d rather make a little less than get squeezed by both inflation and a drawdown. Are you planning to trim your position before the data or ride it out?

Purchasing power matters more than anything. Better to earn less than take a loss; drawdowns are deadly

Cash is king; wait for the data to come in before making a move. The news flow is too noisy this week

With AMD and Election Day colliding, volatility is through the roof, so I’m sitting this one out
