I’m giving up. With this market and position setup, the long-short lock was never going to be unwound. For the first time, I’ve personally cut a position with 2.43 million in unrealized losses. Human nature has always been trading’s biggest adversary, but I’m not short on the courage to start again. Let’s encourage each other. I’ve blown up several million before, but that was after going all in and holding on until liquidation. This is the first time I’ve proactively cut a position for over 2 million, and I still can’t quite describe how it feels. Going from 350 to 1000, honestly, isn’t that hard. What’s hard is facing yourself after a massive drawdown. Last Friday’s market conditions and the bug in my tool may have been warning signs that I shouldn’t have placed a test trade that day, when the market lacked liquidity. In the end, it was my own fault. Watching my position shrink to just a third of its original size, I’m grateful that trading gave me a chance. Trading means I don’t have to struggle to make ends meet, and it’s also what keeps giving me the courage to start over. I paid 2.43 million in losses for this lapse in judgment. I hope every trader and investor can find their own trading system in the market and stick to it strictly. Let’s encourage each other!
