#中期选举 This midterm election looks more like a catalyst for short-term volatility than a decisive force shaping the direction of stocks and cryptocurrencies. What will truly determine the market’s subsequent moves are still Fed interest rates, inflation, corporate earnings, and capital flows.

U.S. stocks: Choppy first, with a possible recovery once the results become clear
Before the election: Rising policy uncertainty could prompt investors to reduce positions and seek safety, amplifying volatility in tech stocks and AI-related shares.
Divided Congress: Usually the outcome most welcomed by markets. Constraints on fiscal expansion and aggressive legislation could ease pressure on Treasury yields and reduce volatility in U.S. stocks.
Democrats win the House or both chambers: Large tech companies could face pressure from antitrust measures, AI regulation, and data center scrutiny; renewable energy and healthcare could benefit relatively.
Republicans retain both chambers: Policy continuity would be stronger for sectors such as energy, finance, and defense, but expectations of fiscal expansion and deficits could push Treasury yields higher and increase pressure on valuations.
Historical patterns also point to “weakness before the election, recovery afterward.” The election’s conclusion removes policy uncertainty, but AI trading, oil prices, and inflation remain more central variables this time.

Cryptocurrencies: The impact is more indirect, but volatility could be more pronounced
Republicans control Congress: Markets would be more inclined to price in looser crypto regulation and legislative progress, improving sentiment toward Bitcoin, blockchain infrastructure, and compliant platforms.
Divided Congress: Legislation could move more slowly and regulatory scrutiny could increase, making an initial decline followed by divergence more likely.
Democrats control both chambers: Regulatory expectations for the crypto industry would be stricter, but established frameworks would not disappear immediately; stricter disclosure and asset segregation could also boost institutional trust.
In the short term, cryptocurrencies will also be affected by concentrated options expiries, dollar liquidity, and changes in ETF flows. Bitcoin currently looks more like a “first-layer asset” for macro risk appetite and institutional capital: it benefits when liquidity is strong, but is also easily among the first assets sold when risk budgets tighten.

The three things most worth watching
Final control of the Senate: This directly determines how far the Trump administration can advance its agenda.
AI regulation and fiscal spending: These are the two factors most likely to affect U.S. equity valuations through Treasury yields.
Bitcoin ETF flows: These are a better indicator of the quality of the crypto market than simply watching the election results.

Overall, a divided Congress would likely mean lower volatility and a modest recovery; an unexpected result could trigger high volatility.
