CPI is coming out this week, with the FOMC right behind it on Wednesday—both landing at once. This could get rough. If inflation comes in hot again, rate-cut expectations will get pushed back, and stocks will take the first hit. I’ll put it this way: don’t guess the direction; wait until the data is out. If you think I’m talking nonsense, save a screenshot.

Don’t try to predict the direction. +1—right-side trading is slower but steadier

If inflation data comes in hot, rate-cut expectations will have to be pushed back by six months

Stayed up late watching the markets on Wednesday; it’s rare for these two data releases to coincide

These two data points landing in the same week is indeed rare; liquidity is likely to be drained dry

FOMC remarks are even harder to predict than CPI, and Powell is a master at dancing around the issue
