After meeting Hubbard, who was just released, he said in person that as many as eight Americans are still being held in Russia, then declared, “We’re going to get to work on them.” That sounds encouraging, but swaps don’t happen just because someone says so—you have to offer something in exchange. Whether they can really bring them home depends on whether this “getting to work” is serious or just for show. If you see it differently, share your reasons.

A show of resolve is necessary, but don’t expect a quick resolution.

Take this kind of talk with a grain of salt; it’ll be a long time before it comes to fruition.

The key is whether there is any substantive contact going forward.

If they can really get it all back, that’s a big win for this administration.

Eight? I hadn't heard there were this many before. The data is questionable.

Hubbard just came out; the information may not have fully synced yet.

Just got released and immediately started spilling the beans—the timing is quite telling.

Prisoner swaps are a business, with both sides weighing the costs and benefits.
